Its good to have these kind of imaginations but put them to good use for art. To use this as a coping mechanism seems very extreme imho. Its obsessing over something in a way that isn't healthy. I'm seeing this is being used as a way for people to connect and make friends in a kinda imaginary world (like furries). In the end how are you really connecting with another person from behind a mask? Like maybe if you have a love for animals or a love for religious studies or history or other cultures, but literally thinking you were a dog in a past life? Like it might be more understandable to me if it really was part of your culture or tied to some concrete spiritual beliefs that have actually been passed down from generations, but this is internet culture which is interesting in it of itself, but I would never myself respect that or want to connect to others on that level. I just have high standards and I have high standards for others bc I automatically grant people I've never met with dignity and respect but I feel bad for people that do this and would not endorse it. At the same time I don't want to offend you or make you think I'm some sort of bigot but where do you draw the line with these types of things?

I agree. It seems like an imaginary thing, to me. I'm down for talking about reincarnation, but the perspective I have on it comes from a scientific stance. Because, yes, we were something before we were human. We were /everything/. And in a way, I feel like this otherkin subculture sort of...demeans that, or rather, dumbs that down so that people can act like animals. I mean that literally, people will literally act like dogs or cats. It's not bad....but it's....how should I phrase this....middle-school-ish? Immature. There's the right word. Don't get me wrong, I used to do similar things when I was younger. But if you're going to go on about reincarnation, I feel like its so much bigger then just...having certain dreams and feeling happy when you see animals. And actual Bhuddism is very different then what otherkin is. Otherkin has more likenesses with Hinduism, if we want to compare it to any religion, (note: that is my opinion and therefore other people might have different opinions. I mean no offense by it). And I feel bad comparing it to any religion, because it just seems....like a phase some kids are going through, rather then a structure of cultured beliefs.
