Any proof on inviting campers from other towns?

I haven't seen any surefire proof that you can invite campers from another town.

So are there any?

I was at my friend's town and their campsite had Doc in it. I talked to Doc a number of times (when you're in another town they won't play games with you). The next day my campsite had someone in it. I looked inside and sure enough, Doc! I was only doing this to find out if they do move into your tent.

I did the same with Poncho once, but I didn't get him in my campsite the next day ;o

Maybe it was when he would've asked to move to your town if he was camping there, and Doc went to the campsite in keybug's town.
