These last couple of days, I’ve noticed that I’m no longer getting notified when other users quote my posts. I get them for likes, but not for quotes. And before you ask: no, I don’t notifications turned off in my profile.

Anybody else having this problem or just me?

i’ve been able to get some notifications for replies but i’ve noticed that i haven’t been getting notifies for a lot of them so,, definitely not just you aha

do they not show up in the log at all, or just not in the popup when you click it?

it;s possible you might be getting so many it skips showing some for the popup, idk

I haven’t had that happen for quoting BUT I have email notifications set up for some threads so I’m able to see replies right away and I haven’t been getting those emails the past couple of days so I’ve been seeing responses super late

While I've not experienced this happening under ordinary circumstances, the following situations typically do not give you a notification:
  • If you are already viewing the thread the notification is for
  • If the person has edited their post to add your quote to it later
  • If you have been quoted in a merged post

i think its a combination of the last two that’s been happening to me lately. I knew about the first one, but the other two I didn’t realize. Thanks!

Ok, bumping this again because something super weird just happened to me:

I got a notification that I had been quoted, but it wasn’t my post. In fact, it’s not even a thread I’ve ever posted in. I got a notification for one user, quoting another in a thread I’ve never interacted in. Like...what????

I wonder if something you responded to got moved to another thread. I've seen a lot of threads merged in the last few weeks, especially if they're repetitive. I wonder if you responded to some initial thread that might have gotten moved around or split so the quote notifications ended up wonky and lost in translation. Just a thought!

I don’t think so. It’s a thread in Nook’s cranny selling plucked flowers (not something I would’ve ever been interested in buying) and it was only made yesterday at 10:58 pm. I wasn’t online then and, in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever interacted in any of this user’s threads. Idk it’s just totally bizarre.😳

Hmm! That is super bizarre!

That's a little weird!

I think that could theoretically happen when someone edits the quote tag. It has two numbers, one for member and one for the post number - I think someone either quoted you and accidentally edited the post number to the post in the thread, or someone quoted that post and edited the member number to yours

Code:
[QUOTE="Pintuition, post: 9489129, member: 140626"]

Are you getting notifications for watched threads and is that thread being watched.

Also, screenshot the notification.

Nope. Not watching the thread. I don’t think I’ve ever interacted with either of these users before.

They had quoted your post accidentally from another thread and, upon realising their mistake, edited out. They had likely meant to respond to it but changed their mind, so it remained in their 'Insert quote...' section.

Ahhh, ok. Thank you for sorting this out for me!
