Anyone else frustrated with the villager market?

i’m guilty of selling villagers ): i set the bar low but people just offer large amounts that i dont have the will to decline c’: i do just want at least 10nmt to feed my hoard or some tbt to afford some sets + redd art i’ve been eyeing & reserving, but i see why some people are against it—honestly i just dont want my villagers voided no matter how much i dislike them

I guess I can understand it if someone spent a bunch of NMT to get a villager, and was starting to run low on NMT while they were hunting. Maybe they do it as a means to recoup their losses. In addition, I know there are some people who cycle villagers, and that can take time. Since they are doing it to help people and doing it at the cost of their time, I think it's fair for them to be compensated for what they are doing.

Personally, I do feel weird about selling villagers. When I want a villager to go, I'm not just giving them away so that they can go to a good home, I am also giving them away b/c I wouldn't want then to get voided. When someone comes and takes my villager, they are doing me a favor, and I guess I would feel weird for charging someone if they are helping me out as well.

I agree that some of the villagers are WAY too expensive, for me even 50 NMT seems too much (but I'm a poor gurl ok), but... the IDEA of selling villagers is completely valid for me. You want to get a dreamie when your villager moves out so you need NMT or some other resources AND, what's more, you trust the person who buys the villager that they won't make some mess on your island.
I, personally, want to sell my villagers who are going to move out, not to charge 100 NMT for one, but to get a chance of getting another dreamie. So I'm fine with someone paying me 10 NMT or less, or some wishlist items or a bit of Bells, or even, if someone really really wants that villager, just "okay, you can just water my flowers and take villager X".
So yeah, I totally agree with saying that overpaying for villagers is wrong, but you said yourself that you hate the idea of selling villagers... and that's wrong for me as well. Because personally I would be just unhappy and frustrated with losing a lot of NMTs on mystery island if I want some villager, if I could just easily buy him for the same or less amount. :)

maybe ur gf should join a bunch of those free villager giveaways if she has a twitter account thats how i got my judy i had been saving up nmt but decided to join a giveaway and i ended up winning her

but the campsite is a good method of her getting judy if she doesnt have a snooty on her island the campsite boosts the apperances of snooty villagers

also personally i dont sell villagers mostly bc outside of my dreamies the ones i have left arent desired so i give them for free. but i would probs host giveaways for popular villagers if i had them

I understand people who charge others if they want to adopt villagers because it takes time and some of them don't have amiibos, etc. However, charging obnoxiously high amounts for a pixel cat or cub is just mind-boggling to me. It's also mind-boggling to me that people are willing to pay these astounding amounts, or even CAN afford to do so, especially when it takes a lot of time to rack up miles. The same applies to villagers that do have amiibos. It takes very little time to move them in and out if all you're doing is inviting them and kicking them out via amiibo, so I don't understand the need to charge high amounts in this case either.

I understand selling villagers. I think it's totally okay. If there was no trading of any kind, it would be way harder to find the villagers you want. But I hate it when people overcharge. I sell some of my popular villagers for around 20 NMT, which isn't high compared to the hundreds of NMT some people spend. Auctions are a different story. Since it's a competitive market, auctioned villagers go for a lot more. However in my opinion, no villager is worth more than 100 NMT.
