Anyone else thinking of redoing their island based on this update?

Yes! I’ve been thinking of redoing my island for a long time since I haven’t played in months. This new update is the push I need to take the plunge and reinvigorate my island! :D

I’ll probably keep a few areas the same, like my beloved gnome rave. Everything else though, I’m going to flatten the island and see what’re inspiration takes me. I’ve never done anything like this before in an AC game so I’m excited!!!

For sure redoing my island. I was already bored with my island and tore it all down before the direct announcement, and the direct itself just made me feel even better about my decision to wait for the update. So heckin' ready for this.

Not all of it, no. Luckily, I have one area that's free - I had plans for a rockery, but I lacked the custom design spaces required to make it work well. With this update, I can finally transform that area differently, and maybe a couple of other areas which I feel are a bit weaker compared to the rest of the island.

I’m planning on keeping my second island Soup completely bare and just breeding flowers until the update because there’s now so much more I’ll want to do once I see the new items!

Not a full redo since I really love my island, but definitely going to look at the areas where I had to sacrifice ramps, now that we can add two more!

My first and second island is done for the most part but I'm more than happy to redesign / add on to some areas. I left my third island untouched waiting for an update like this. Worth the wait.

i just restarted almost 2 weeks ago so no, i don't think i'll reset because of this update. i haven't unlocked paths or terraforming yet & my island is kind of empty so i have plenty of room for stuff from the new update.

Partially tempted to restart but it’s not 2020 anymore, don’t really have time to play the game everyday for 3 months straight lol

Plus I’ve always felt that restarting an Animal Crossing town can be a bit of a mistake- I still wish I never reset my New Leaf town in 2016 and I can’t help but feel I’d make the same mistake of just never playing the game again.

I’m not gonna like, flatten and redo or anything. But, I’m gonna have to rethink a lot of what I did to accommodate for all this new stuff. I might end up changing a lot lol.

I didn't think I would be doing any major updates to my island anymore before this Direct. I feel pretty happy with my island and just imagined I would just change around things for new holidays/seasons. But umm... yeah. I think this is going to make me do a major re-design. That's a good thing though, as I've had my island in its existing state for over a year now and it is getting kinda boring. I just didn't feel like the game was providing me with enough features and tools to do much else until now.

I actually just reset recently because I got so bored of my old island which I already finished so my new island is still pretty empty. I’ve just played up to the point where KK showed up so I guess it’s perfect timing for the update. There’s so many new stuff, especially the theme park things. I might have to rethink my theme…

Perhaps. My original idea for an island was to make a section of the island be a "mountain" and on top of that "mountain" put some columns to make it look like the ruins of an ancient Greek acropolis. Sadly, the columns that we had in literally every AC game before this were removed. But NOW we are going to have some again! =D I was lowkey really excited about that. lol

Not saying that my idea here would turn out like I'd like it to, but you know. At least now I'll be able to try. =)

I've been thinking about restarting already, so now seems like a good opportunity. I'd be able to get through the slog of the early part of the game before the update hit.

But it looks like the update will have a lot of uses for money and Nook Miles, and I'd lose my huge saved up number of Nook Miles just when there are all these fun new things to get with them. And my island is at a stage where I could easily incorporate the new things in my island and have everything perfected in a short amount of time. For example, I have a farm and stable it took me many months to complete just waiting for fresh crops to be planted. I'd been sticking turnips and designs of fake plants there as if that was a crop growing, but now I'd be able to have real crops! I could make it perfect with so little extra effort if I didn't start over. And if I want to play with new areas, the paid DLC can certainly scratch that itch without my having to give up the parts of my island that I love.

Speaking of parts of the island, though...I've noticed I can't move the rocks on my beach, and I'm assuming I'm also not going to be able to change the location of my secret beach without starting over. What other things can you not change by flattening that you can by restarting? Because that might also play into my decision.

Was already considering flattening my island and renovating it and the Direct has definitely given me more of an incentive and motivation to do so. Had been toying with the idea of a full reset but it feels daunting (and just, with all the work I've put in with my island right now, starting over fully doesn't feel worth it to me).

I was in the middle of doing as massive move around my island but now after seeing this I will have to move everything again :( at least I have a whole month kinda to do so haha but it is gonna be stressful moving it all again.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to redo my current island, or just start completely over. If I can get the villagers I want out of the new amiibo pack then I'll probably start over, I really want to experience it from the start as a full animal crossing game ;w;

no... i'm not, cause i'm too far in on my island now ... besides, i'm pratically done :> i just want to experiance the events i hadn't seen, plus i want to do the halloween event... aka, toy day, turkey day & festivale :>

I’ve been away from the game since around January so I feel like I need to do something to enjoy playing again, but I’m still undecided between restarting or just redecorating, so maybe flattening some of it would be a good start? :’) but also, ahhh, flattening is so time consuming and doesn’t exactly make me excited to return to playing, so *continues to have a mess of an island forever*

I will be making changes to both of my islands. On my main island I have to figure out where I want to make a farm. I have some pumpkin patches around but with the additional crops I think I want a farm on that island. Just not sure where.

For my second island it already has a farm but it will be too small for all the new crops. Since we now know we are not getting any more buildings and no more villager plots I will move it. I have a pretty big area with nothing on it so my farm will go there. Will have to decide what to do with the area my farm is now.

im definitely not going to start again or flatten- ive invested wayy too much time in to my town and im attached <//3
that said, there's some large chunks of island and rooms in my house thatll need a major overhaul!
