I would prefer they didn't include religious clothing. Some are sacred and not really for dressing up and play. And there's no guarantee people would be respectful, leading to problems.
theres no cultural appropriation for hijabs, actually. hijab is a religious thing that any culture can wear!Even though the Desert Princess face covering item is in the game, I doubt they would ever add hijabs. There is the whole political aspect about it as well as women's rights aspect. I am not saying nor believe that all women who wear them are forced, but they do exist.
On top of it, you have the whole cultural appropriation issue that always shows up and someone is going to get upset and take something too personally. I mean some people take offense to Aladdin which is a fictional story meant to capture the general Eastern Trade World.
Unlike turbans for example, Hijabs are typically not worn by people of multiple backgrounds. Other backgrounds have other styles headcoverings for women that are used. And although it can be tricky to tell what faith a woman has by their headcovering, it usually can be done if you know about them.
Do I think Hijabs should be added? Yes if they are still interested in adding clothes and adding cultural clothing. If they do it though, they need to have other styles of head coverings released at the same time under the idea of Cultural Clothing. It would be more acceptable plus it gives women of other backgrounds more options if they want a more unique personalized representation. Do I think it is a bad thing if they don't add Hijabs? Nope.
I am not sure if women who wear headcoverings all the time would want to in game as well. I must say the clothing is pretty numerous already... Maybe a way to remedy it is to have more sets of clothing like they did with the Festivale suite and zombie outfit. I mean mix matching is fun, but it does make it more complicated and eat up your storage when we have crafting materials to do that for us lol.
so why are spinoffs on christian holidays allowed then? why cant other religions have that? and turbans are inKeep it out of games I say, that and politics.
counterargument: turbans are in the game, as well as shinto things for Japanese festivals (setsubun beans)I do agree that it’s nice to see different cultural stuff and games, but that is possible to do without the religious and political stuff.
Not that I’m against religion and politics, but those should be kept out of Animal Crossing.
Wow, I didn’t even know about this .—.I would personally not mind/care if they added them, but given that people caused such an uproar over ONE HAIRSTYLE I don't know if it would be such a good idea.
yeah it was messy lolWow, I didn’t even know about this .—.

Maybe i have flawed perspective but culture, tradition, and religion go hand in hand. In many cases you can't sever it.counterargument: turbans are in the game, as well as shinto things for Japanese festivals (setsubun beans)
What’s wrong with people having the items and such to properly represent themselves?Keep it out of games I say, that and politics.
I wanted to say... Buddha statues. Buddism isnt my faith but i would love for them to add it as a cement garden statue. I do admire the person. Perhaps customize to be mossy. Actually there is opportunity there as alot of faiths have made garden statues. If they make the shapes vague enough they could be used for more than one purpose too. So like a buddha statue could be a vague meditating monk shape. Maybe to vaguely look like a species of villager. There could also be a feminine statue that could cover multiple religions. At least there is the fairy tale hood if you do feel like you need to cover your hair in a game too.
Personally I would rather have religion and politics separate from games as I come to games to get away from having to think about those things really. That said I dont mind if they add them but then they also have to add other things like crosses, buddha statues etc.
Since development is Japan based I wouldn't be surprised if they added more shinto stuff like a torii gate and I guess thats kinda hypocritikal,, but its important to always remember "who is making the thing and how do their culture view other cultures and their own" which is why some things that are added feel a bit weird to other people..
many cultures are muslim though, turbans are indian bc sikhism is an ETHNIC religion but islam is globalMaybe i have flawed perspective but culture, tradition, and religion go hand in hand. In many cases you can't sever it.
There are plenty of people who wear turbans who aren't Indian nor apart of Sikhism.many cultures are muslim though, turbans are indian bc sikhism is an ETHNIC religion but islam is global
turbans are still mostly related to sikhism IN TERMS OF RELIGION, theres different TYPES of turbans though that muslims wear as well as cultural clothings i. b the middle eastThere are plenty of people who wear turbans who aren't Indian nor apart of Sikhism.
the only thing is, leaving religion out is unfair to those who have it as an identity (hijabis, jewish men etc)I think it’s a far better idea to leave religion out of Animal Crossing. I know religion is important to some, but I really love that Animal Crossing has always been such a light-hearted, fun experience where all of that is simply not the focus. It’s a wonderful escape and I wouldn’t ever want that to change.
