the only thing is, leaving religion out is unfair to those who have it as an identity (hijabis, jewish men etc)
It's is hard to sever culture and religion. Religion affects culture and both are about how a person lives. This is why holidays are a thing and why they have some sort of religious story to them or why there are religious symbols with it or even diet.
