Hey everyone!

I know it has been a while since pokemon ultra sun and moon were released, but i I still haven't bought a copy yet!
Would it still be worth getting or has the hype and number of players all died out?

Let me know!

I hadn’t played a Pok?mon game since Platinum, and I really enjoyed Ultra Moon. It was a fresh enough take on the series. Didn’t love all of the cutscenes that couldn’t be skipped, but the removal of HMs and the island exploring actually was pretty solid. I can’t speak for someone who played regular Sun and Moon, though.

If you played Sun and/or Moon, I would be careful before getting Ultra Sun and/or Ultra Moon, as there are very few changes in it until you make it much further into the game. If you haven’t played the 7th gen at all though, I would recommend getting Ultra Sun and/or Ultra Moon, because the 7th gen is a fresh new take on the Pokemon games (there’s no gyms, just island trials). You have more than a whole year to complete whatever you want to complete though, because the 8th gen Pokemon games will not be coming out until late 2019.

HMs were removed? Interesting, thanks for the reply!

Wow, no more gyms? I think I'll have to get this

i played through em and i can honestly say they are still worth getting and playing!

Nice, thanks for the reply!

I just got it after having skipped on Sun/Moon originally. It's definitely quirky/gimmicky in some respects, like with the HM replacements, but all in all it's pretty enjoyable. Definitely brought out the old pokemaniac in me the first few days of playing it.

It is definitely worth playing. If you have played Sun and Moon already, it is quite similar but still worth the playthrough. If you haven't played Gen 7, definitely get it since get it since it is very different. Like most Pokemon games in my opinion, they are worth playing even after they have been released. For example I'm still looking to play Platinum and HeartGold/SoulSilver despite them being released a while ago

If you haven't played Sun or Moon, I feel US/UM are an upgrade simply for the added features, mainly the new move tutors. Worth playing if you haven't touched Generation 7 before now

The next main Pokemon game (Gen 8) is not coming out until fall or winter 2019. Next year. Yeah, it's absolutely not too late. They're still releasing special event Pokemon too.

Event list
August - Groudon/Kyogre
September - Latios/Latias
October - Reshiram/Zekrom
November - Ho-oh/Lugia

The method of release for those hasn't been announced yet. You typically have to go to Gamestop or Target in the US to get a card with a code and over WiFi in Europe.

Zeraora (a new mythical) will probably get released outside of Japan in September or October. And then for the people who can get to Nashville, TN, USA sometime during the weekend of August 24-26 you can get a Meloetta that knows Celebrate at the Pokemon Worlds tournament (being held at Nashville City Center, doesn't require paying for a badge or participating in the tournament to get it).

US/UM are definitely worthwhile. I started playing UM right after completing the Pok?dex in Sun. :)

I personally wasn't a huge fan of Sun/Moon to begin with, but US/UM was just worse to me. I love the gen 7 Pok?mon, but some of the characters just...get to me. And US/UM went way too far with some of their topics. But that's just my opinion. With positives come negatives, I suppose. I just think it was a moneygrab by Nintendo.

If I were you, and if you care about storyline in games, or Pok?mon games in general, then I would say get either Sun or Moon as opposed to USUM. The little "twist" Game Freak did (I won't spoil nuthin') with the main Antagonist in USMU is just bad.

In my opinion, Sun and Moon tell the story much better. And as a bonus, those games have less cutscenes. You know, if you want to speed it through the game.

Plus, I feel the way you first meet your starter is so much cuter and developed. I'll never forget the moment I first picked up my little Litten in my arms... <3

Just like everyone else says that its better to get Pokemon Sun/Moon before Ultra sun/moon.
But its really just not worth it because its almost the same game as Sun/Moon, but it matters to you if your okay on wasting money on getting the game.

In my opinion I'd skip Sun and Moon and go straight to playing Ultra Sun/Moon as Ultra SM has a much better & fuller storyline to it compared to the original Sun/Moon.

It's a complete waste. These people are on crack I din't even finish it, it was like playing the same game twice with a few add on features. Also it's not challenging at all.

If you skipped regular S/M though then go for it, it's the better version

Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon is only as different to Pokemon Sun/Moon as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is to Mario Kart 8 and ACNL: Wa is to ACNL original. It’s like the same game, but with a few more features. So I would follow the others when they say to skip Sun/Moon in favor of Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. However, the plot for the original Sun/Moon was better, but don’t go by the plot. Go by the gameplay.
