Are requests gone?

One of my favorite things to do to pass the time on NL was to do quests for my villagers, I'm only on day 3 but I haven't gotten a single request from a villager and from the looks of it, neither has anyone else in the forums. I haven't been pinged either but from the looks of it, you can get pinged, I've just been unlucky.

Has it been confirmed that requests are not coming back? I really hope that's not the case, I've been getting anxiety the more I think about it because it was my favorite thing about Animal Crossing.

So the dialogue and the requests come the more developed your town is? Oh, thank goodness! I don't know why, but the thought of no requests really stressed me out!

Yea I was starting to get nervous about it as well because the dialogue felt so shallow for the first few days (especially given Jock and Uchi are probably my least favorite personality types). I've got some more villagers in now and am just about done with what I think is the tutorial phase? so I want to say things will start picking up with villager interactions. I noticed it almost immediately when I started getting more villagers in outside of the first 2.

I got Prince in a few in-game days ago and he asked me for a tree trunk sitting bug today

yeah I just assumed they’d come later on! it’s important to remember that we’re just a few days in so we need to not worry if we haven’t seen certain things yet

i'm getting requests!
yesterday (3rd day playing), diva asked for a beetle that stays on top of tree stumps and axel asked for some kind of fish that i can't recall lol
but they didn't ping me. i was just chatting with them when they asked

It's not a request, but the other day I was talking to Hazel in her tent and she asked for my opinion on something.

It was something like "What's the best way to start the day/get myself pepped up."

I told her to take a cold shower.
