Are spoiler contents loaded before opening?

Just wondering if the contents of spoiler tags are loaded before they are opened.

Spoiler: Example

If they're not (which is unlikely) then I'll probably make some GIFs from Mr. Bean and The Simpsons and set it up to show a random one inside a spoiler, but if they are loaded when the page is then probably not since no doubt TV-resolution GIFs could rack up the bandwidth for some people, especially with it changing each time preventing the option of them being loaded from cache.

pretty sure yeah it loads everything, even if you don't open

or at least I remember it working as such for older forums I went to
