Hahaha! OMG, the first one. I graduated from college a long while ago, *cough cough*, but I can definitely relate to the first one. I had a professor I couldn’t understand and he taught things that weren’t in the textbook, so I simply did the homework and showed-up for tests, but studied completely on my own. It was far more confusing and frustrating trying to learn from him in lecture. But, PSA, go to class y’all, that izz ain’t cheap! xD
Just the other day I was browsing this site looking for an old professor's reviews funnily enough.
I really wanted to leave a review for them for a long time, but I was worried I would have to deal with them again so I forgot about it. I saw most of the reviewers had a similar experience and got the point across, so It left me not as inclined. (It was also really late and I did not want to bother finding the course number on my eons old laggy phone.)
I am a college student and while I've never written a post on Rate My Professor, I definitely relate, and have seen pretty amusing posts about a couple of my professors on there.
I am a college student and also have never written a post on Rate My Professor. I also really can’t relate as I don’t view or use sites like these that often. I think I looked at one before because some friends wanted me to, but never really since then.
I'm a master's student now. While I would look at certain professors on RMP during my undergrad, I did not do so in grad school. It's useful for finding outright terrible professors, but a lot of people also trash good professors for "being too difficult." In my opinion, do the classes you think you'll enjoy regardless of the professor (and always attend the classes, this should go without saying but the people I grade can't seem to understand it).
my school is too small for anyone to seriously use this. at larger universities you can use it to 'avoid' professors who are rated badly, but that's not the case here. if you need a class there's a 99.9% chance it's only taught by one professor.
I'm a college student, but I haven't actually gone on Rate My Professor before. I just went on there and looked up some of my professors.... yikes, scary accurate. I'll be sure to use it from now on when I have new professors. Some of the feedback and comments though are absolutely hilarious lmao
and yeah, I definitely relate to that. I went out on a limb and took a leadership class this semester (but wait, surprise! It's a 3 semester long program with increasing amounts of retardation and hell each semester), and omg. Literally every assignment in the class made me open myself up and even though it's a small class of diverse people, we all opened ourselves up to each other in ways that are really... beyond uncomfortable. Like, sharing deep secrets/personal stuff, all for the sake of uniting us and getting us closer as a group so we stay together for the 3 hellishly long semesters of leadership torture. And the projects we have to do, jesus ****ing christ, this post is literally the class omg
best part I think is my advisor pushed me into this and she's given me a lot of actually good advice and resources so I feel like I should wait it out and suffer through it, but the instructor is literally a student affairs worker so I'm debating dropping it this fall
Currently in college right now and I'm about to start second semester in over a week. I relate in some way to what you have posted because I had a couple of professors who are tough markers. Thankfully, they didn't do anything else such as staring into my soul or something like that. XD I have classes that are strict on attendance though, and I have to be there early before it even starts.
Definitely not going to college ever as this seems like pure hell!
I'll just mind my own business and I don't want to have anything to do with school anymore!
But yeah, can definitely relate as I've had some amazing (in a bad way) professors in high school.
I use rate my profs to check out all my instructors tbh. I also check on my programs fb group for reviews. But yeah I’ve had some absolutely horrible teachers (discouraging, tells you to give up, discrimination against me because I’m quiet) and it didn’t show in the websites so it’s like useful to an extent lol.
Was working on my AA Degree , but temporarily dropped out to take care of family and myself after a certain diagnosis. It's scary, because idk for how long. So I find work where I can til then.
Yes lol. While recent changes to the system made it possible for us not to go to college and just use our high school credentials to get jobs, what's really toxic here is that most likely than not, companies or other related areas will reject you if you aren't a college graduate. That's why so many people here, despite having little money and all, force themselves to earn a degree so they have more chances at getting a job.
We also have this sort-of stigma that it's shameful to either not go to college or drop out of it. It's pretty dumb, especially if you're a student working a part-time job just to sustain yourself, your education, and possibly your family too. Our culture isn't just easily a choice of "I don't want to go to college" because of this toxic stigma. It's sickening.
Anyway, yes, I'm a college student getting a degree in Biology. I plan to go into Medicine in the near future (since I'm graduating this semester)
Well.. I am, but in the UK that doesn't exist at the level of education I am currently at. I'm still in college, but in compulsory education at the mo!
