Are you over 18? Do you play AC?

That is so dumb... I mean I'm 19 and I love animal crossing, its just a chill, laid-back game... I had the old one for the Gamecube (still do) and loved it, so I thought why not try the new one for the Wii..? My little sister got a Wii for Christmas and she loves the game too! (shes playing it right now! ...I want my turn lol)
Just because someones an adult, doesn't mean they can't share the same pleasures as a young person... I play all sorts of games, FPS, RPG, etc. Animal Crossing is definitely on my game lists.

Don't hate on us, ABC17!

I still think that anyone playing Animal Crossing needs to find something better to do.

That applies to anyone above 9 and a half.

There has and probably always will be issues/controversies around gaming and the gaming industry thanks to the media; it gives it a bad name when it's really unecessary >.>

If you think that then WHY are you on an Animal Crossing forum?

Wow. The goverment is going a bit excessive nowadays buy a game "intended" for children and your a P-do?
and they say kids are getting violent because of video games.
Governments are getting more violent lol. Come raid my home government. I have dangerous material. Animal Crossing for the Wii!
It is like you hear a knock at the door and the police barge in and start yelling," Where is the Wii, pedophile!"

What are they thinking?

wii is soppuised to be a famliy game...and i do nothing but play guns and action and kiling and not once have i got in a fight or thought of killing someone

I find this rather.... ignorant. Honestly, the online feature was designed for the older groups that play imo. Even commercials for Animal Crossing don't have children playing. It's rated "E" for everyone, not everyone under a certain age. I'm sure children didn't test this game to get it approved. Besides, I know a lot of people that enjoy this game that are well older then I am and I'm 19. Heck I know some woman who really enjoy this game and they bought it for their children to began with and it didn't keep their attention.

Pedo has never came to mind to me cause... I've gamed with most older people then younger, like one 1 of every 10 people I've been online with are younger then me, the rest are 3-10 years older. I really don't see the problem.

Thank you Storm, for this post and this thread. I had seen OCM's original post and pondered over the article for quite some time. Truth be told, I haven't connected to anyone via WiFi since the article first appeared. This sort of fear mongering has a tendency to spread like wildfire until it becomes a Mccarthean witch hunt.

I hadn't seen the gamepolitics.com article, though. It is an excellent retort, although in a far too obscure setting. More online gaming sources should carry the torch!

The simple, short answer is this: government fears video games.

They fear what they don't understand, and they simply won't ever take the time to understand video games or gamers. They attack violent video games, because they say the games lead to children acting violently. They attack addictive puzzle games because they lead to obesity and a more sedentary lifestyle. And now, they attack games that allow players to connect and interact with one another because they attract pedophiles.

You know what else attracts pedophiles? Playgrounds. Lets close them all down and bulldoze them to the ground. MacDonalds. Sorry Ronald, you and your playlands gotta close up shop. The Circus. Carnivals. How about children. Children sure seem to attract pedophiles. Sorry kids... you all gotta grow up.

You know what would be great? Tougher laws that kept pedophiles off the street. Leave my game alone.
I agree with you here. I feel that they should get rid of playgrounds and McDonalds and children. Geez stop provoking the pedos kids. Oh and Candy! They need to stop with the candy. I mean who can resist candy! I know I can't, and that's the reason I ended up in that strangers van that one summer...anyway. Yeah, video games like this don't really scream "Hey I'm playing with a 12 year old and I can offer him a Gold Rose for directions to his house"

I'm 13 and I play it. Animal Crossing is more of a game where you make your own goals. Sure, they might be small, but meh. I play it because it look cute. Besides, it's not like this world's any better.

Dear <ac player>,

You have been laid off. Sorry bout the whole Bell recession but...yeah.

Sincerely, Tom Nook.

im under 18, even when im over 18 im still gonna play & yes on the advertisement there are adults playing the game....
