Mainly docked, I love seeing this game in all it's glory on the big screen! But I'll play handheld when I don't want to be in the living room.

I use handheld because I have the lite but the game is so pretty I wish I could play it on my tv!

handheld! I bought a switch just for AC so why spend $100 extra when I can get the same thing (pretty much) just cheaper? Anyways, it's not like I have a TV for my dorm or in my room back home so this is super convenient

Both! My partner and I live together and both play so I'll use the tv until his console dies then he gets to play it docked, and when my console dies we switch again

I almost always play handheld mode. I do like playing on a big screen, but docking has always been tedious with the TV I had and where it was in my house wasn't very comfortable to play for numerous reasons I won't get into. I also live away from home while I'm in school, so taking my dock back and forth wasn't really worth the time. Since I'm mostly living with my folks now though I may try to play it docked more. :0

I prefer playing it docked but due to me having work and not being able to be near my TV often I find myself playing handheld a lot! I don't mind it though c:

I’ve mostly played handheld so far. I like playing it in bed, and at other times, I want to jump in and out of the game, and that’s quickest to do without having to dock my Switch (since I don’t store it docked).

The main factor so far is that the tv in my apartment is small, and as a result, I don’t like sitting on my sofa and playing newer games on it because the text can be hard to read. I haven’t had too many issues with ACNH so far, but in general, I use docked mode when exercising (I’ll sometimes play games when riding a stationary bike I have), when sitting down for a long session mid-day; or when playing games that have control schemes that work better docked.

I imagine that I’ll predominantly play docked whenever I have access to a larger tv (like when I see my parents). But for now, I can’t travel anywhere or do anything besides work, so I’m using my tv more for Netflix and gaming in handheld mode.

I have a normal Switch and up until New Horizons came out I played 100% in docked mode. Now I find myself playing mostly in handheld mode. I guess it feels a lot more natural having an Animal Crossing game in handheld mode, no thanks to the DS/3DS. Another factor is sharing TV's in my household lol, so it's kinda easier for me to just play in handheld mode. I still love and prefer docked mode though.

I prefer playing AC docked on the TV. I get tired holding my switch up after a while, especially since I like to fidget and switch positions a lot.

I also like that everything is gigantic on the TV. I feel like I miss things less easily.

handheld! when my hands get too tired, that's when i call it a day
i like to sit or relax in bed when i play acnh

Either will do it for me, but I have been using the dock often. I like how the graphics look on the tv, but I also like playing where I'm comfy, so I tend to alternate.

Handheld, so I can lay on my couch with my cat sleeping on me and watch tv in the background

I put I 'prefer' to play handheld because it's my only choice, I don't have a TV to dock it to. I'd much rather play on a TV but it's not an option, even though I have the regular switch.

I love both equally, while I play more handheld I do try to play it a lot docked because it just looks so pretty on the big screen :)

Someone in my household just asked me why I haven't plugged my dock into the TV given that I've been using my Switch so much lately. I don't actually have any urge to play it on a big screen. I'm even considering moving to a Switch Lite eventually given that I rarely use the dock and still have the older model with bad battery life. I charged it three times one day last week.

Do you prefer to play AC:NH docked or handheld?

Please post to specify whether you use a regular Switch or a Switch Lite.

You probably already know this but, don't get a switch lite just because you want to play handheld. The new/red box switch has a longer battery life than the lite. I play in handheld only and compared to my old switch, I am able to play animal crossing for at least 6+ hours nonstop before I need to charge it.
