Docked when I trade with people, handheld when I want to sit at my computer and browse the forums/watch shows while I play. I prefer playing docked cuz it looks amazing, but handheld mostly purely out of convenience/multitasking purposes.

Handheld. Not really rich enough for a regular switch so I got the lite for 50 bucks. I was so used to playing on my 3ds for 9 years that I've taken a liking to handheld now more so than tv anyway.

I primarily use it handheld so I can walk around whilst playing it, but I do play it docked when it needs charging. Not a fan of charging it directly.

Docked looks significantly nicer though, I will say

I'd say about 75% of the time I play handheld, and 25% I play docked. I love how the game looks on the TV, but a lot of the times I'm lazy and just want to lay in bed while I'm playing, so handheld is good enough.

I haven’t played docked yet, I’ll probably try it soon. I’m getting some major joy con drift so I’ll use pro controllers, I have spare joy cons but it’ll just do the same.

handheld!!the tv gets way too bright for me when i have the switch plugged in lol

i did docked mode when I first loaded the game but only lasted like 5 minutes, if my switch is in there too long it'll get really hot and that scares me lol

so now I just play in handheld mode. my switch still heats up but not as much as it would in docked mode

I swing both ways. I voted I liked both sides equally, but I think I slightly prefer docked, partially because the game is prettier on a big screen and partially because my hand cramps up after a while when I play handheld.
Sometimes I have to play handheld though, when I`m not near the TV, like in bed. Honestly that is perfectly fun as well.

Docked when no one else is using the TV. We technically have 3 TVs but I tend to stay downstairs since it's always so cold here and the only heater is...well, downstairs. Handheld would be at night time or when I'm trying to lay comfortably and fall asleep like old times trying to hide the fact I'm staying up.

I don't think I'd ever get the switch lite just because I already have the regular switch with joycons and to be able to play other games that require the separation of joycons and being more physically active. PLUS possible co-op playability.

I play both ways, don't really have a preference. Usually handheld though, especially if me and/or hubby are watching tv.

Most of my playthrough has been docked while using a pro controller (I switch over to my joycons when it needs to be charged), but I've played it handheld a couple of times. I often leave my Switch docked when playing games to avoid being left with barely (if any) battery charge, in case the power goes out in my neighborhood; it's been a recurring thing over the years.

I like to do both. Most of the time I do docked since the graphics on it are much better than the 720p screen the switch has, also because i'm really clumsy and don't wanna spend £360 for another switch :p . But when I play in handheld it's usually because I want to watch a movie while grinding money and fish.

Docked. I've yet to play it handheld. It brings back nostalgia of playing the gamecube version.

Both. I like playing docked in the morning when I usually work on decorating the town and doing my daily chores and then switch to handheld later in the evening when i do all my fishing and bug hunting instead!

I play it both but primarily docked.
It actually feels weirder trying to fish handheld since I'm used to seeing everything so large on the TV.

i'm using a switch lite but i wish i had the money for a regular switch! would love to see the game on a big screen

Handheld and I use the regular Switch (new model). I like to play from the comfort of my bed. Also my dad is staying home during the pandemic, so he's hogging the TV lol. I played it docked once though, and I love the graphics!
