are you vegan/vegetarian?

Vegan/vegetarian in a sense. I can't digest dairy so I have to shop for vegan products in that field, and most times when I want protein I'll reach for the beans or legumes (because I am scared of cooking meat incorrectly and getting sick/parasites). I still eat meat though, just a few kinds.

I’m vegan and I have been for almost 4 years now! I went vegan because I didn’t feel right eating animals or their byproducts, and for the health of the earth. I honestly love being vegan and it’s a huge part of who I am. I still eat amazing food, I still get to go out to eat (and I live in a town where that is not common, so it’s super cool), and as a plus, some of my chronic health conditions have slowly gotten better bit by bit since I became vegan (this in no way means veganism is a cure all, I was just sharing my personal experience). I recommend everybody at least tries it once in their lives, or even tries to eat vegan or vegetarian more often, I have plenty of great, easy, and/or cheap recipes, anybody feel free to message me anytime if you wanna know more! :)

I was vegetarian for about a year a little while ago and I felt a lot better about myself and ‘healthier’. I am quite lazy tho when it comes to cooking food so that is probably why I phased out of it. But I still think it’s a lifestyle that’s better for the environment and for my own body. I try to live as eco friendly as possible and I feel like in my experience switching to vegan or vegetarian is a step towards that. I definitely respect that a plant based diet may not be for everyone depending on personal choice and circumstances though. I hope to return to being vegetarian in the soon future and eventually go vegan :).

I became vegetarian when I was 13, and vegan at age 17. I just turned 21, so that marks four years! I am in Orlando, FL a lot and there are SO MANY great restaurants there. Here's some of my favorite substitutes:

Milk and yogurt: Silk
Cream cheese: Kite Hill
Cheese: Follow Your Heart Provolone and Field Roast Chao
Meat: Gardein
Sausages: Field Roast
Grilled Chicken: Beyond Meat
Ice Cream: Ben and Jerry's

I've been vegetarian since I was 3 and I've been one for 13 years now^^ mums been veggie for 14 years and vegan for 1, she lots lots of weight(3 years ago) but now she's gone back to being a vegan~

Nope, I'm neither. I enjoy eating meat too much. I'm considering doing one of those 5/2 things though, where you do 5 days of vegetables and 2 days of meat in a week.

I don't think I'll ever be able to cut meat out of my life completely. I have been making healthier choices, such as eating more fruits, veggies, eggs, potatoes and drinking almond milk instead of cow's milk. I've also been eating less red meat lately, and replacing it with turkey meat. (Turkey bacon, turkey beef, etc)
Being vegetarian/vegan just seems way too hard though ;v;

I'm vegan, and have been for 1 and a half year. And like Mozzarellasticks, I don't tell anyone.
It's unnecessary, and if they don't ask about my diet, why should I tell them? They don't care.

Not like I'm hiding it, I just keep on living like a normal person. Not like non-vegans walk around saying they eat meat.
And also, the elder don't seem to understand that I hate when they even speak about the subject.
They always throw jokes at me, or well, they believe it's funny, but I never think it's funny because I know they don't agree with my choice.
I don't understand why people tease me for absolutely no reason, when I have done nothing to them. Not ever have I said "ew it reeks of meat here" or "ew ur eating dead animals". It's so unfair.

Well now I've vented. :p

Nope. I didn't eat meat for 4 years as a teenager but i reevaluated my views and went back to meat slowly. No regrets.

Like tbh i dont see the point, if you dont wanna support corporate farming just buy meat from local butchers and delis or buy cage free chicken and make your own damn chicken nuggets. And like animal consumption is a natural thing and its not morally wrong.

Not all of us are vegan cos of the animals, you know. No need to be upset.

The point is, is that some people prefer being vegan or vegetarian. For whatever reasons they want to be. You should calm down and take a breather. OP just asked a question, there was nothing about it that screamed anything about morals or what is or isn?t natural. If you?re going to get so riled up about a post, maybe you shouldn?t reply to it? For your own sake, and for others around you. This is a public forum, y ?know.

No, I'm not. If someone asked me this a couple years ago I would've said that I'd never ever go vegan or vegetarian. But I've kind of changed my mind since then. I've been trying a lot of vegetarian/vegan meals over the last couple of months as I'm getting kinda sick of meat and want to try something new. I quite like some of the things I've tried! I'd like to try to introduce more things like that. The main thing at the moment stopping me from eating more vege/vegan meals is probably the price, as a lot of meat alternatives are quite pricey and I can't afford to buy stuff like that all the time. My parents are meat-lovers so I'd probably have to buy my own stuff lol. But yeah, I've become more open to the idea

I don't think tumut was necessarily screaming about anything, he was just giving his opinion on meat consumption. He's free to his own opinion, just like any vegetarians/vegans are free to their opinion too.

I'm definitely a vegetarian, and I'm pretty dang close to being a vegan, although I'm "not vegan enough" that I often avoid calling myself a vegan so that people won't get angry with me. I don't buy any animal byproducts (at least not intentionally, I'm probably accidentally buying things I don't realize aren't vegan and am working on knowing my products more), but I'm struggling a lot with poverty issues, so if someone gives me non-vegan food for free, I don't turn my nose up at it. I usually go to the food bank once a month, and I'm already not able to have gluten, so it would make it really hard to get any good food if I asked them to make the food vegan as well.

No he didn't scream, but he did in fact sound very harsch towards veganism, saying that "you can just buy meat from better places" and "eating meat is not unnatural", even though no one said anything about that.

No sir! I love meat waaay too much. I feel a bit of a guilty conscience when eating it, but I shrug it off. I have always wanted to look into being vegetarian or vegan, though.

I'm vegan for the animals and the environment :D I've only been for around a year and a half but I'll never go back!

That goes both ways though, I’m not saying you’ve done anything but there’s a ton of vegans/vegetarians who belittle people who eat meat. They like to act like they’re on some moral ****ing pedestal when in reality it doesn’t make them a better person lol

But on another note, I’ve actually been considering trying to become vegetarian. I don’t even like meat all that much and don’t think it would be too hard of a switch, plus I know it would be better for my health. I don’t think I could be a full blow vegan though because I love dairy too much. I’ve tried the vegan substitutes for dairy but none of them taste nearly as good as the real thing.
