are you vegan/vegetarian?

I was vegetarian for a little more than a year but I stopped due to the fact that I wasn't getting enough protein and considering I'm a runner who was training for her first half marathon protein was a necessity at the time :p

I've been a vegetarian since January, because I learned about veganism around a year before and couldn't shake the guilt I felt eating animals. Also, I realized eating meat was what was causing the digestive issues I was having because ever since I stopped my stomach issues have disappeared. I'm planning on going vegan once I move out of my parents' house or sooner if possible. I feel better than I have in years and I can't imagine eating meat again now.

I don't label myself or restrict myself from anything because it makes me feel just that... Restricted. I eat mostly plant based for the better of the environment and animals. I'm lactose intolerant to start with so giving up cows milk and things of the like was already pretty easy for me. However, if I get the crazy craving and want for chicken nuggets and my veg chicken nuggets don't suffice, I'll treat myself.

I mostly eat pescatarian which means the only animal products I'll eat are fish, eggs, and some cheese. The biggest parts of the vegan life style that I uphold is using cruelty free products such as my clothing, household products, and beauty products.

Eating plant based is still such a fulfilling and great diet, there's TONS of recipes and substitutes for your favorite meat meals. And you can still eat really delicious things!

vegetarian. because I, like 99% of vegetarians and vegans, love animals and the earth. I started the vegetarian diet when I started working with animals/zoology and im currently volunteering at an animal rescue, it'd feel weird hanging out with the cute rescue piggy we have and then eating her family sjkdghsfstyj

Vegatarian for several months now, I'd be vegan if I wasn't such a picky eater/could find good substitutes. As for why, there's multiple reasons. One of the main ones is that farm animals require far more land and resources than crops, they create more pollution as well

im neither, because i love how meat tastes, grew up eating it, and am not too concerned about killing animals for sustenance .....

No he didn't scream, but he did in fact sound very harsch towards veganism, saying that "you can just buy meat from better places" and "eating meat is not unnatural", even though no one said anything about that.
No one said anything about it but you're acting like it's irrelevant when it's completely relevant to the topic. I understand you disagree with my opinion but there's no need to demonize me for expressing my perspective on veganism.

How is saying that buying cage free and local meat harsh?

The point is, is that some people prefer being vegan or vegetarian. For whatever reasons they want to be. You should calm down and take a breather. OP just asked a question, there was nothing about it that screamed anything about morals or what is or isn?t natural. If you?re going to get so riled up about a post, maybe you shouldn?t reply to it? For your own sake, and for others around you. This is a public forum, y ?know.
The only person getting riled up is you.

I'm neither because I don't see it as effective.

Global exploitation and environmental detriments basically come from all food production (I'm sure the ones most know about is per the pound pay in american crop harvesting, the chocolate and coffee industry, all the nonsense with quinoa) so, in my mind the only way to really make change is to pressure lawmakers into pushing regulations, rather than just abstaining.

Ultimately, it's on the producers and industry causing the problems, not the consumer. The industry is what needs to change.

I would be willing to abstain from certain foods if it meant an impactful change would happen, ie. lets say everyone agreed : ok for 5 years we're not going to catch any tuna as to see how it affects their population. But unfortunately I see that only opening a black market.... There's a lot of complicated issues at play isn't there. Too bad that bad behaviour is often well rewarded isn't it.

Hopefully as a society, we can make our food production more ethical and environmentally responsible in all fields, not just animal products, but other highly exploitative markets also.

My mom always called me a carnivore when I was little, and I'd often get a slice of lunch meat out, and eat it only with my teeth while pretending to be a dinosaur. I still love eating meat, and I don't know if I'll ever want to/be able to cut it out of my diet.

i don't eat meat too often but i'm definitely not a vegetarian nor a vegan and have no intention of becoming one anytime soon. :p

i've been vegetarian for 14 years now, it's just a way of life now and i can't imagine ever going back to eating meat and i have no interest in it (HOWEVER omg how good does some fish look, i've been having WILD cravings for some and i've resorted to watching ppl eat it on youtube to satisfy to me smh), i would absolutely love to be vegan one day and do plan on it but there are a couple things holding me back including the fact my diet is terrible rn and i kno i wouldn't get the nutrition i needed from veganism unless i expand my diet a bit which i plan on doing, ONE DAY

I love animals and all but sorry, little chickens, cows, pigs and fish, I gotta eat you.

In short, no, I'm not a vegetarian/vegan nor am I ever going to be one and I don't want to be one.

However, I eat more chicken and fish than I do cows and pork though.

Dat me with chicken tendies. Which is ironic because the final straw that made me commit was that video of boy chicks.

Too much dedication & effort needed. They are more expensive too. You can buy the cheap stuff, but where are the nutrients boo?
There's definitely an advantage & disadvantage. It's definitely healthy, in some ways. Like, I'm sure you'd have better skin being a vegan. I just feel like I won't be able to dedicate to it, so what's the point? I might try but everyone would still eat meat & the food industry would still be cruel to animals unfortunately, & most of all, I'd probably go back.

I am against animal testing though, so skin care products are vegan. Don't like harsh chemicals myself anyway, so I avoid. You can never be too sure.
