I keep wondering about this. How do you find your art style? I've gone through so many ways of drawing, and I don't know how to stick to one or which one is better. How did you guys find your art style?

Continuous practice leads to a unique style. And when I say practice, I mean practice in your own style. Do not try to do the same thing as so-and-so because lots of people like them. Look at a picture, then close the tab, and draw what you remember. The more times you repeat, the more unique your style will be!

for me, it was taking elements from art I really like then taking those elements and making my style
(of course I didnt have their art open as a ref, I just drew from memory!)
your style should reflect you and it shouldnt be a ripoff from someone else!

SAME SAME SAME i think it really does take time and eventually you'll feel like you've found the perfect style for you. I heard its good to try a variety of styles. Its basically just drawing something in a particular way that suits you. Whatever you feel comfortable with drawing or find yourself doing unconsciously could be close to a style?

sorry i cant english today

Ah, alright. So would it be one that you feel most comfortably using?

you cry and sacrifice your soul to the art gods and even then its difficult

finding your style is hard -- changing it is even harder. at least, for me. i have had essentially the same style for at least 8 years lmao. very little has changed about my art. i am trying now, to change at least some things (mostly faces), but it is SO HARD. what i do is look at what i like in other peoples' art and see if i can try to do something similar. ill get there eventually i probably just have to do more ritual sacrifices

Take from multiple sources, then mix it, draw for a while, then you have your style!

That's what I did

Practice often, but don't overwork yourself. Try not to draw the exact same thing all the time, I learned through experience that leaving your comfort zone builds development in your artwork. I used to pretty much only draw characters in a standing pose, facing the front but that didn't really get anywhere ahaha

They ended up looking really similar since I was only drawing the same pose but with different characters. I've practiced a lot over the years and tried drawing a variety of things and improved (I still have a lot to learn though!!)

but yeah I hope this makes sense I'm RLY BAD AT EXPLAINING THINGS

Mm! Well my style tends to vary but I think that's because I'm practicing. But I do remember seeing one of my favorite artist style change constantly. So I don't think there's really a set style you can develop. Maybe consistent with the way you make unique expressions, such as thick lashes, brows, etc but your structure maybe different. But as everyone else said, practice! Find people you look up too and take inspiration from them!

Gunkiss is one of my favorite artist and she consistently draws such full lips, and I practice drawing such lips. I also love how the crystal gem's lips look like too so I also take inspiration into that and try to develop my own style.

You should also look in the basics of the human structure, anatomy! I think once you developed how to just draw fundamentals of the human structure, developing your own style would be a breeze afterwards.

I recommend looking at Proko.
Also gestures is quite fun to do too!

mainly practice like everyone said, but i personally just looked through a ton of tutorials and saw what other pro artists drew so i could compare and see what makes their art so great and use it as inspiration to make my art better. i try not to do that as often though to avoid completely copying their style altogether, im just using an idea or two. everything else comes from practice & tutorials

Thanks guys ^^ And I know what you mean about having multiple characters having the same pose *looks at notebook* x-x anyway, I'll keep all of this in mind! Time to start another notebook!

a lot of people will disagree but i think its best to try a bunch of other people's styles and dont force a new one. itll come naturally, what you need to do is to draw in other people's styles for practice. (im mainly talking about anime bc there arent that many styles of realism)

Watching tons of anime, reading manga, stalking artists on pixiv, and lots and lots of practice.

I also changed up my style to make it easier to color, ie. making more details in clothing folds, changing the way I draw hair. :3

i cant draw ****ing shadows or color well
and i cant draw bodies
just heads

ahhh

TBh I think the feature that tends to look the same in everyone art ( like everytime they draw you can tell its this artist) is the eyes, people usually draw eyes in a certain way and I feel this is the start to finding your "Style" I dont even know what i'm talking about. LOL I'M SORRY I'MA LEAVE NOW .
Draw head/shoulder and gradually add more features over time ;-;, add to the bust, to waist, knees and eventually fullbody. Guidelines really do help, I REALLLY suggest looking at some line art tutorials to help you find your style because just practicing off making line art since people draw anatomy different will help you make your own line art, and then go find a coloring style you like. Lots of people post their Palette and you can use theirs and add more colors you personally like when it comes with shading and bases to help fit your likes.

dont listen to me I dont even know whats going on right now
