Autumn247's drawing thread

The date on the cupcake drawing is wrong, I just did it the other day it's supposed to be dated 11/14/24 but I accidentally put 9/14/24

and the claws I drew today

Another sketch I did of my own character, 3/4th view. The date on it is wrong, I drew it today but for some reason but 2019, lol. I keep writing the wrong dates on my sketches lately. I'll just erase the 19 and put 24 in. I think I'm sort of kinda developing my own style of drawing maybe? My characters I make up have a similar look to them which is why it made me think maybe I'm developing my own style a bit

I need to get better at drawing full body characters, that will probably be what I work on next.

I gotta say though I feel I've improved a lot this year, especially looking back at my older posts in this thread. Drawing daily has made a difference

It looks great! :D I really can see an improvement! Also, I wanted to tell you that I read what you wrote in the what made you happy thread and I can relate completely to how you feel. I think that I probably wouldn’t have went back to drawing had it not been for some of the tbt events, partially because I felt like I wasn’t making progress. Now, I’m back drawing and now I’m trying digital art. 🙂

When I was talking to a friend earlier about art, she said we can be our worst critic. She’s right! The progress may not be obvious to you, but I’m positive it’s there! What matters the most is that you’re enjoying drawing 🙂. I’ll take a look through the rest of your thread when I get a chance!

I hope you continue drawing and enjoying it; I’d love to keep seeing what you draw! 🙂

Thank you! ❤️ and I’m really glad you went back to drawing that’s awesome! And yeah we can definitely be our own worst critics. I’m trying to view it more like am I enjoying it? If I am then it doesn’t matter whether it’s “perfect” or fits up to some standard I set for myself, the point is to enjoy the process and I am enjoying it :)

That’s an excellent way to look at it. I honestly never thought of it before until I read your post and while I was typing to you 🙂. I personally tend to look at more at the final result (my drawing) and not the process along with other silly things like, how does the drawing look to others (and not necessarily really in a constructive way, but more just general impressions). Right now, as I’n working on my drawing, while I’m trying to do my best and better since this is a gift for someone, since I’m still learning how to draw digitally, I’m enjoying the process a lot more than I normally do (at the same time, I’m impatient for the end result lol).

It’s easy to compare yourself to others online, especially with art, but that doesn’t mean your art is specifically bad. We all progress at different levels and that’s okay! (Note: ‘You’ meaning in general, not you specifically)

I’ve been looking through your drawings and I really like your monochromatic drawings! I like how you shade the black and white. I definitely see improvement while going through this thread from the beginning, even if it’s not obvious from your perspective.

Thank you! I'm trying to get better with shading in black and white. I tend do do more black and white drawings than I do in color cause I just have more experience doing black and white drawings. Eventually I'd like to get better with colored pencils. And yes you're right, it is easy to compare oneself to people online. I'm working on trying to not do that as much though. :)
