Backing up my physical copy of acnl

I have been playing this game since 2014 and I recently saw someone write about how their cartridge stopped working.

Is there any way I can backup my physical cartridge if anything happens to it? I want to keep this town for many years and to never delete it.

I do have save managers on my 3ds that allow me to backup my save but what else do I need?

I would really like to know about this as well. You can buy a digital copy and transfer the data from your hardcopy to the digital copy, I know how to do that! It does mean that if anything starts going wrong with your ds, buying a new one quickly so that you can transfer the game onto it so that you don't loose it that way (although it's unlikely anything would go wrong with it) I like digital copies for that reason. I have a hard and digital copy of acnl and a few other games for this reason.
