So I noticed that whenever they shake a fruit tree, fruit falls down. And whenever they shake an empty tree, wood falls down.

Just curious, do you think they got rid of beehives? I think it's too close to traditional animal crossing, and they wouldn't remove that aspect, but I could be wrong.

I think there will still be beehives. Maybe less frequently, or in a different manner, since you're encouraged to shake trees for basic crafting now, but I don't think they'd remove them entirely.

I thought wood falls out only if you hit it with your axe, but I guess I missed that part about shaking fruitless trees. It’s too early to tell from the trailer but I think beehives would still fall out and it’s an RNG thing whether it’s wood or a beehive (or bagworm, spider etc.) Although maybe there’ll be a new model where you see a beehive hanging from the tree from the beginning, with bees circling around it? A new visual like that would be interesting, although it would make bee catching too easy.

I'm pretty sure the beehives will be in the game just like in the past. If I remember correctly, there was only five trees a day that would have the beehives, so I'm pretty sure they will still be there in the game, just spread out like in previous games with just the five a day. I could be wrong though, but it's much too early to tell. :)

I doubt they'd get rid of bees.

That would mean one less torture device. ^_^

They may make it more complex since they made it easier when they updated NL?
You can get honey from beehives in D.I.E (Desert Island Escape) so I wonder if it'll be like that? (๑?o?๑)
But it'll probably drop as you're collecting wood and fruit

You get twigs (and possibly soft wood on rare occasions) from shaking trees.

Like others have said, I doubt they got rid of bees. It might be rarer, or it might be just as frequent as before. We really don't know, but it's highly unlikely that bees, bagworms, and spiders were removed from the game just to make crafting easier. It's likely a risk vs. reward system.

Well, it's not confirm yet if they are in the game or not, but I would say that beehives are still a thing in New Horizons, at least I can't imagine that they got rid off of them. Pretty sure it's this time random if you either get wood or a beehive whenever you shake a fruitless tree, same goes probably for furniture which can also falling down from the tree.

I think it will be random, like sometimes you'll get twigs and once in a while a beehive will fall out of a tree.

I think beehives falling out of trees in NH would be terrible design, the game encourages the player to shake trees for wood and fruit. Putting in a random RNG punishment for following the games basic design ideas is terrible. It'd be like if in Mario there was a chance that if you jump he'd trip and fall, causing a game over, it's just not good like. I think you'll get them through other means though.

Beehives are one of the minor reasons i become rich in my town, so if i don't see any of them in New Horizons i wouldn't be really happy lol

I'm sure you can only get a certain amount of wood per tree, maybe if you shake it again after you get the wood there's a chance you'll get a beehive?
