Best way to check item prices?

Good afternoon! I'm wanting to open a shop here on TBT, but have no idea how to go about pricing my items! Is there some kind of guide on how to price things, or do I just need to search the forums to see what things have sold for in the past? I definitely don't want to overcharge on my items, but I'd like to know ballpark prices.

if you're unsure you can always offer PWYW!
in terms of new horizons, the market is p saturated so prices aren't that high right now.

mostly offseasonal materials/diys might go for more, rest of items tend to sell in the 1-10 tbt per range.

PWYW is definitely the easiest option but if you want to double check what things usually go for on here i just search for them like you said and see what other people have sold them for! obviously the value of stuff changes over time but you can get a rough idea

I believe it stands for Pay What You Want? Meaning you can pay however much you feel the work is worth.
