BEWARE OF THE NEW HDLC.

why has nintendo not done a thing to try and stop this?
why should Nintendo?? It's not like anyone's forcing you to catalog hacked items. Look, if Nintendo wanted to punish the hackers out there, it would just release more ACTUAL DLC, taking up the slots that the hackers are using for their items.
The only way we could have a chance at stopping DLC is with a petition.
It kinda helped us with our grass woes, it may just stop all the HDLC coming through.
I say Nintendo should make a patch that deletes the HDLC, and the slots they take up.

but it affects non hackers and HDLC users as once you visit a town with HDLC installed, your game downloads the data whether you want it or not. i want nintendo to block this because it's making the non hackers and HDLC users suffer as well!

I know how it feels, I went down a friends and one of his other friends had HDLC. Now I'm worried that one day my save may be lost from the hacks. Anyway, I think this topic should be locked, we're not allowed to talk about HDLC on here.

Ok but has that theory even been proven?
Yes, but they argue that it's safe because there's a minimal chance that Nintendo will release a DLC that has the same code for HDLC since there are only 256 slots allotted for DLC and there are thousands of codes in the game.
Re-read that page you linked to there. You don't catalog a hacked item simply by connecting to someone else's town that has one. Just like every other item in the game... you HAVE to put the item in your pocket in order to catalog the item. SO DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR POCKET!

Here's the thing... You need to understand the cataloging system here. Like you said, you can only catalog 256 new items (meaning DLC items, or HDLC items... items outside of the normal catalog of the game). There are literally THOUSANDS of available hex addresses for these new items to be given, but you can only catalog 256 new items.

If you connect to someone who has come in contact with HDLC... it is true that the hex address assigned to that particular item will "infect" your game as well, but it won't take up one of the 256 available catalog spaces unless you yourself put it in your pocket. IN OTHER WORDS, you could literally stand and watch a lightsaber fight between two people in your town, but after they leave, you won't be able to order a lightsaber from Nook, unless you put one of them in your pocket. However, if Nintendo decided to be annoying and release a new DLC item using the exact hex address of the lightsaber (even though there were thousands of others to choose from), then, yes, to you it would unfortunately appear as a lightsaber and not the intended item.

And there's even a way to de-assign the hex address if you have a hacked Wii and go through the data management utility available for Homebrew channel.

That's why I hate the HDLC. You never know.

What about the people who don't have a hacked Wii?

yeah... no hacked Wii... you're out of luck. BUT my point was, if you can do it with a hacked Wii, then certainly Nintendo could offer a utility to "scrub" hacked items from your Wii, right? I mean, the spread of these hacked items has been rampant. Contact with them has become pretty unavoidable (through someone who has it, or someone who connected to someone who has it, or connection to someone who connected to someone... etc).

let me be clear... I think hacked items are LAME and I REFUSE to catalog them. If Nintendo truly wants to punish the people with hacked items... then release 256 DLC items!! Frankly, the DLC has been awfully slow to come... especially to the US market!!

How can HDLC harm your game? -_-

It's better then what nintendo realses.

Pikmin hat-shiny blue pikmin hat
ice cream case-lightsaber
milk case-giant axe 1
shamrock hat-giant axe 2
top-crayon green
xxx-red crayon,

Shamrock hat & pikmin hat are the best.

The funniest thing is that the new wig looks like HDLC, the top was rubbish too. The only other good DLC was that board thing, forgot the name of it now.

LOL. What are you saying? You think DLC is that easy to make?

I heard about a HDLC that can duplicate itself.
So if you drop one on the ground, close the bag and open it again,it

I think these items are all axes with an other model skin.
So you can cut trees with them or throw them on the head of the fountain lady or....

:O WOOOOW! CRAYONS! XD ^_^ I WAN ONE :p naaaat, well i want one, but i waish it wasnt hacked :/ nintendo, make crayons! nao!

What is the crayon for?
The Shiny blue pikmin hat is a color negative of the red pikmin hat, it appears as a helmet in your pocket and a hat on the ground. Hmm... or maybe its the other way around. I dunno, like I said before, I don't touch hacked items.

Every other hacked item (including the new ones) are gold axes and behave like gold axes (won't dull or break... take down trees with one chop.. etc) even though one of the lightsabers looks like a dull worn axe in your pocket. Not sure which one though.

The people who should REALLY be ticked about this are the people at Crayola... I'm pretty sure that name is trademarked!
