Brand new villagers or nah?

Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm new here and curious to see what you folks think! Each new game we've had a set of old and new villagers and sometimes even new species (NL) so it's been a given to any new mainline AC game but I've had a lot of people say that this game will focus mostly on new features and details etc. and probably pull a Smash Ultimate by including every single villager to date but no new ones as there are already hundreds.

Kind of a bummer if true as we always look forward to newbies but nothing has been announced either way. We did witness two new NPC's on the latest announcement so anything is possible?

I really want them to bring villagers back as they're my dreamies!

I do hope they add new species and new villagers too though! I don't think it would be an issue to introduce new characters over introducing new personalities as new personalities would've created more dialogue which would've hindered other types dialogue, whereas, new species allotted existing types which can be changed later in future games wouldn't cause a problem imo...

I really enjoyed the Sanrio Amiibo and would love some more collaboration Amiibos too!
I hope they expand on items for Sanrio and add a Fifi collection because she's so cute and my favourite!!! ₍

I'd love for old villagers that haven't been seen since Gamecube to come back, ESPECIALLY the +e ones... as someone who's barely played the original (only a bit on laggy emulator) they're kind of "new" to me.. and the +e ones never made it out of Japan! Out of those I'd especially love to see Meow and Bow back...

This topic comes up quite often in this section of the forum and I think we're divided between those who firmly believe we'll get new villagers/species and those who've given up. I belong to the second category, but I'm not too sad about it. We already have a lot of different villagers to choose from and as long as we get come cool new features and NPCs I'm good.

I'm not overly concerned with having new villagers or species but there is no reason why a brand new mainline iteration of the game on the latest hardware, shouldn't include every single villager that's ever featured in an Animal Crossing game. I don't see why fans should have to hope that their favorites make the cut.

Just include them all Nintendo.

I'm fine if they don't add any new villagers since there's still so many old villagers I'd like to have in a town. Though it would be really nice to have some new ones if at all possible. One of the fun things about playing New Leaf for the first time was to meet the new villagers since I already had an encyclopedic knowledge of the City Folk villagers. They provided a nice breath of fresh air in my town.

I don't really mind either way. Like a lot of others, I'd much rather they bring back some of the villagers we haven't seen since the Gamecube game. I'd love for the mouse Carmen to return, though they'd have to give her a new name probably as the rabbit Carmen exists too.

Who knows, though, maybe they'll surprise us with a new species. I think bats or foxes would be really neat.

I really hope they pull an ssbu, but I don't know if that would be too much. I can't wait to see who stays, who goes, who's new, and who returns no matter what though!

I absolutely want new villagers and really hope there's at least a few, I also hope that there are all the old ones back because I want quetzal! I only found out about quetzal in recent years when playing the GameCube one again, and I really have grown fond of him lol, but new villagers I haven't seen is really exciting to me! The whole game is exciting though lol

I feel like if they weren't going to include any new villagers they could have waited for the Welcome Amiibo update and just include those oldies in the new game. As someone who's played Animal Crossing since the beginning, I've almost gotten bored of the same old villagers in NL, then HHD and again in PC. New features are nice but we need fresh faces.

I completely agree! New species and characters would be amazing!
If they brought them in through collaboration like Sanrio etc that would be great too since they'd come with new themes, clothing and furniture!
They really do need to have all characters too though, I would really like them to return villagers from どうぶつの森e+ since they weren't released outside of Japan. ˁ̡̡̡∗︎⁎⃙ ̫⁎⃙ˀ̡̡̡ ̩˳♡⃝︎

They've added more new villagers since the first game (not counting spin-off games like Pocket Camp), so i think there's a chance they'll add more of em, or they might bring back villagers that are present only in the first installment instead

or worse, they do neither of em

I probably wouldn't even be aware if they did add any new villagers. I don't know the entire roster of either of the two Animal Crossing games I've played.

I would love a few new villagers but I?m definitely happy as long as we have all the existing ones!
