The Japanese equivalent to the NPD has confirmed that Brawl has sold a whopping 500,000 on DAY ONE in Japan. Nintendo's sending out a second shipment, so we should reach a million by the end of the week.

And since the US is many times larger... I expect day one sales getting to a million, if not exceeding that.

Is this game being accepted by the Japanese better or worse than Galaxy, in terms of sales? I can guess which is doing better, but I'd like numbers.

Galaxy has done substantially worse in Japan, if I remember correctly.

Hell of a lot better my friend. The masses of Japan tend to get motion sickness really easily, so it didn't sell well.

Impressive.
However, I doubt it will sell a lot in North America. Most North American Wii owners are casual gamers.

OK, dude... please consider actually researching info before spouting it as facts.

Super Mario Galaxy sold, what, 500,000 on the first day in the US alone? Please, man. Stop making unresearched claims.

Speaking of unresearched claims, you said in Virtual Console Download Center #55, the VC had 199 games released. I did some research and found out it had 197 games released.

Damn Japan! They get everything first. This just tells us Brawl will be awesome by the time it hits America.

Wii Fit has just broken a million in Japan, after being out for a decent amount of time. Brawl's on its way to a million in a week or so.

Yeah, man, honestly.

OK, I admit that was a mistake. But saying most North American Wii gamers are casual gamers... where are you getting that?

You speak as though you know every single Canadian gamer. Speak for yourself, man.

Wii Fit will never be more successful than Brawl, in any territory. I guarantee it.

Dude, where are you getting this idea that we're casual gamers?

Yeah, the Wii brought in the casual sense for SOME of the games, but all the hardcore gamers are still here.

see, there are two types of Wii owners. Casual, and Hardcore, obviously. And with the thought of millions of casual gamers joining in the party when the Wii came out, you'd think it's heading for a casual gaming era. WRONG.

Nintendo has just ADDED people to its fanbase, 99% of the Hardcore Nintendo gamers are still going. And with releases like Brawl, MP3, Galaxy, etc., MORE Hardcore gamers have joined in.

And that's just nintendo.

Microsoft and Sony are everything but casual. the 360 has the biggest list of smash-hit hardcore games on one console I have ever seen! Just because Nintendo is giving casual gamers what they want, doesn't mean all of America is going casual.

Take the Nintendo DS for example. Most of the people who own Nintendo DS are casual gamers(ie. children).

Proof? That's not true, by the way. What's happened to real gamers, then, by your logic? Have they just magically disappeared from the market?

Sale for Brawl = how many they can make =p
Completely true.

By the way, the hype for Brawl in my grade is off the charts. So you can't say Canada has "gone casual". We're on par with the US in that category, IMO.
