Brewster theory...

I might be in the minority but I really despise the idea of going back to a museum cafeteria, I think it shines less that way, as if the cafeteria is just an add-on to the museum, I want it to be its own important thing with its own building like New Leaf, it brings so much life to have more buildings in your island. Otherwise, it just feels so hollow, i need a police station, the recycle shop, I need more buildings because it feels so empty in here with just ables and nooks.
I feel the same way. I really would love more buildings. It would be great if there was a way to have an option of being in the museum or having its own building. I was kinda disappointed Leif and kicks didn’t get their own buildings.

I feel the exact same way about Leif and Kicks. I highly doubt any of the two are getting anything if at all. I was never a fan of the island setting in the first place, it feels less cozy and of course there's less shops because of that. I hope we get back to a town in the next game and we get more buildings like HHD introduced, that game set such a good precedent that it's sad to see they didn't use their own ideas!

Honestly, it's nice to hear someone else with the same thoughts. I was hesitant to buy a switch + ACNH for a while for this exact reason. I've never been into the whole island thing, to me, it is just depressing. And with fewer buildings, no other areas such as Mainstreet or tortimers, it feels so barren and boring. The cozy vibe of animal crossing has always been one of my favourite things. Oh well.

As for the datamines, honestly, I'm not taking anything from it. They have had perfect opportunities to bring him back before, I just can't expect that the game is going to change much or have Brewster again. HHD and ACPC gave me so much hope for the switch installation of Animal Crossing with new and more interactive buildings/functions, furniture, and building design options. I guess it just isn't to be.

It is sad since they could have done so much more with what they have. I don’t mind the island but it would have been better had they let us have more buildings in the beginning. Now that we are so far in most people won’t want to redo their islands. I liked finding the material and building Nook’s and Ables it’s to bad they didn’t continue that with Leif, Kicks and hopefully Brewster if he ever shows up.

I agree that we should have had more buildings from the get go. As the game is, I don’t get quite the feel of a “village,” like in previous installments. Even with all the work to make my island feel warm and welcoming, the lack of real buildings makes ACNH really feel like a deserted island, and not in a good, relaxing “vacay” way.

As for the pro-Museum crowd: while I designed my island with plenty of room to redesign in case new buildings were ever introduced, I understand why many players would be cross if they had to redo their island 1 1/2 yrs later.

While I am in the standalone Roost camp, I would not mind it in the museum, so long as it is not stuck in a windowless basement in the far corner of the fossil exhibit— that’s horribly wrong on so many levels. It would be great if there was a cafe entrance on the mezzanine landind between Blathers and the Art Gallery (with another entrance to Celeste maybe?), or a front staircase a la our house.

This isi what I always thought because you wouldn’t want coffee in spring or summer but in fall or winter is perfect cause it’s hot.

Yea it really doesn’t feel the same as past games. The only thing I can think of is they didn’t want people to finish their islands so fast. Maybe trying to give people things to unlock later. I have decorated my island in a way that’s easy to rearrange if we ever did get more buildings. I have seen some amazing islands in dreams where they use player houses to be restaurants and other buildings. I myself would rather have the actual building then have more player houses acting like them. We have more then enough room for more buildings.

Yea the only way I would be happy with a cafe in the museum is if it’s not put in the back. Having Celeste back on the second floor would be great. She could have her observatory back and still wander the islander when there are shooting stars.

He could also sell random gyroids each day. Would be an excellent way to introduce the Gyroids into New Horizons without ruining the whole, "Deserted Island" aspect of the game. Since, as far as we are aware... Wisp is the only ghost on the Island, there wasn't any other people on the Island before we got there, and as such no one died... so there would be no reason for Gyroids to randomly spawn on the island. So instead... Brewster, since he LOVES Gyroids, could sell five of them randomly to the player (like his stock of Gyroids rotates every day, so you gotta check back with him to see which ones he is selling).

Totally agree! I'd love to see it implemented this way.

I’m going to do the usual list of bullet points I usually do to weigh in on various things:
  • As I said in the update thread, the fact that there’s Halloween and November seasonal items in the newest update that they haven’t announced reads more as “contingency plan in case more stuff isn’t finished in time”, but I’d just like to add that in the Twitter thread I posted by NWPlayer123, the update’s ID indicates this update was finished before the last one, which also supports this theory… but even with that in mind, we’ve got two updates left this (calendar) year, and Brewster is probably coming in one of them.
  • I think he’s going to give us crafting recipes of some description? Either gyroid crafting ones, which I’m kind of on the fence about due to the gyroid exhibit datamine, or ones that use coffee beans to craft drinks and such.
  • I also think old NPCs that there’s no clear role for (like Chip, Nat and Joan) will end up visiting, as well as some of the NPCs currently in the game?
  • The datamine clearly indicates the cafe’s in the museum, and I’m fine with that. I DO like the aesthetic of the inside of NL’s standalone version, and I’d prefer it to look like that internally, but otherwise, in an AC game where the USP is “move to an empty island, enjoy nature and use the resources of nature around you to build stuff and decorate with it”, I don’t think having a lot of shops around fits with that anymore, and haven’t since Luna turned up. Whereas it does with NL, because the USP is “a small forest town grows into something bigger as a result of you becoming mayor”. A separate shopping island fits, as it’s the city you and the rest of the islanders are escaping from… but I wouldn’t say no to a proper post office and a police station, as well as a couple more shop upgrades with a load more furniture.

same, past animal crossing games felt so cozy and comfy, and I can’t quite explain it… the shops, all the buildings, the walls, the trains, they all made you feel like at home, which is something I never felt like in new horizons

The last datamine, hints tjat the coffee shop, might be part of the museum.

I personally, prefer it to be, a building apart the museum but still, i'm fine if not. I just hope for Brewster to be a thing.

I personally also would like the idea of Brewster having his own super cool and nice looking Cafeteria, In my island im still saving a area for him in hopes, In the museum i guess it will be fine too although it just disrupts a bit of his chic idea and aesthetics cause in RL you would never go to a museum for its coffee or its cake 😅 or at least i have never felt in love with any of them in my life. I really do hope that after all the time it has taken for him to come to the game he will be amazing and brings lots of activities or dynamics changes that can be fun to interact with not just one season but all year round. Because for me whatI have noticed in the game is that im lacking that motivation and fun things to do through out the year

I would be happy with the cafe either way, as long as we actually get it. I admit I would be semi-annoyed that I JUST finished redesigning my island to the point that all the foundation work is done and the buildings are all where I want them. I left it for a year just in case there was to be a new building (though I doubt it) but finally just took the plunge and flattened everything to rebuild. Now that the rebuild is done it will be annoying to redo, but I would be willing.

I do really miss all the old shops and buildings from new leaf though. I like the idea of a shopping island actually, that could be fun and would leave the possibility of adding all the missing NPC's back in the future. I dunno how realistic that is though and personally I think the cafe WILL come back, but in the museum.

Even though it would be fun to have another building just for Brewster, I’m okay with him being in the museum. I’m more excited for him possibly giving out coffee-themed reward items than anything else, haha. I really hope we get Brewster in late September/early October like you mentioned 👀. It’d be a really fun time to introduce him in time for chilly weather and the changing colors. C:

I too was originally hoping the cafe would be a separate building, but I think there is one good thing about it being in the museum: The museum is the best designed interior in the game. I think the interior of the cafe may actually end up looking better now that it's in the museum rather than if they had made it a separate building.

The other building interiors in the game haven't changed much from past versions, but the museum interior was dramatically improved, so I'm excited to see what a new museum cafe will look like.

This would be amazing if you could have him in a new update in October but who knows what the developers are doing at the moment :(

I’d love it as early as possible since my interest to come back to the game continues to dwindle. I’m more likely to pick up Happy Home Designer again than come back at this rate.

Personally, I would love it as an entire new building but I’ll be okay with it being in the museum. I just hope there will be significant improvement from its counterpart in New Leaf and a bunch more furniture, diys. My hopes for even this are very low since I had my hopes up on Turkey day for a bunch of food furniture and more and look what it ended up being. :/

I know this thread is about Brewster theories but I have none. I think it is better to wait for an official teaser from Nintendo than to get my hopes up. This is just me though; that’s great if making theories doesn’t cause you to get your hopes up or for the disappointment to be major if it ends up not true. Sorry if I worded that poorly or if it came out rude. I don’t have a problem with discussing them.

Sorry. I don’t mean to drag things down. I’m not feeling that great. This is my honest opinion though.

I would also love an entire building not just having him in the museum as a lot of players have made little cafe's around their island already me included.

I love the new food items in the update coming :)

Brewster would be amazing to have. It will be a while before he comes, if he comes, but I will be waiting.

Yea it’s probably better to wait for word from Nintendo on Brewster. Yes it can be fun to try and figure out what might come as long as you know there is a huge possibility it won’t happen. It would be nice to get food DIY’s for working part time. Or be able to get those sandwiches the villagers walk around with. Sorry your feeling very well. I do hope you feel better soon.
