hello everybody,

i'm currently trying to build a spooky forest-y type of town and need qr codes for broken tiles, mossy patches and wild flowers. i have looked around quite a bit but haven't found the perfect ones yet :c i've found heaps of cute, fairy-tale stuff but nothing that'd be fitting an abandoned town in the middle of a forest.

i hope someone can help me out :)

I could give it a try, but I'd like a few more specifics. Colors, background color (dirt vs grass, concrete, etc) and do you want ALL wildflowers, or just on the sides?

Ooh...good question. I've been looking for something similar for a town I have that I also want to be spooky and creepy. I'll lurk and see what ideas lilylily has. If I come up with any ideas of my own for something like this I'll ask here.

whoops, i didn't check this thread until now, sorry

i guess i want something like old, cracked, overgrown stepping stones on grass for paths and cracked stone tiles to put over the town place stones. i'd like the wildflowers to serve as a border for that ... i'm definitely not "pattern-ing" (if that's a word, haha) my whole town, i'm way too lazy for that :D

feel free to do that! :3 two creative brains think better than one.

Okay, here's what I got so far! I only made one tile, so you guys can critique it before I finish it. :3 If you want more shading, different details, colors, etc. just let me know!

And if you're looking for more natural stones, here's one I already made, if you want I can re-vamp it to look more cracked and lichen-y.

Oh...that's VERY good! Do you think it's possible, or practical, to also have one with an edge that looks like the grass has grown over it? Sort of like old dead grass, but on an edge? You don't need to do one for every direction, necessarily, but I think an overgrown-looking edge to one like those above would be the perfect addition to an older, creepier, sort of area. Does that make sense?

I'm using these anyway as they are, tho! :D

Oh, and this is out of place, so feel free to ignore it, but could you consider a gravestone that has no religious symbols on it? I don't want any religious affiliation in my town but I do want a better-looking cemetery than the one I currently have, which sort of looks pretty...meh. Even a good old-fashioned R.I.P. would be nice in a dark grey, perhaps?

Just a thought!

Yeah, that totally makes sense! I forgot about the flowers, too. Do you want both or just the grassy hedge-y bits? Or, ooh! Maybe I'll throw in a dead flower or two!

And I'll try to make a gravestone ^^ It might be tricky since the more 3D-ish something gets the weirder it might look when placed flat on the ground. But I promise I'll do my best. <3

Oh, please don't sweat over it! Whatever you do will be FAR better than what I have, I promise! :)

I'm thinking a dead flower or two would be GREAT! I didn't ask for flowers, lilylily did, but I agree with her that dead flowers would be a terrific idea. I had been toying with planting some and letting them wilt...but then if you so much as touch them they shatter.

Maybe a stone with a grassy edge, green mixed with some lighter dead-looking green? Does that even make sense? Or you could always make it easier and perhaps have a black-green moss on the edges? Well, if that would be easier, that is. I have no idea how designing works. But the cracks you made in the top stones was genius. PERFECT! Honestly, if you make several I'll use them all. I have mule characters just for patterns. I don't want you to stress over this or work too hard, okay? And it's hard to describe something you can't quite picture yourself. It's like the image is on the tip of my brain but I can't quite get a clear visual. Maybe I can find some pics that may help. Or not. But I'll try. :)

I hadn't thought about the 3D for gravestones. I am currently using pale grey ones that say "You are missed" but you can barely make out the words. They can be flat if you want. I just want some you can actually read and see that they are gravestones. I just (personally) don't want crosses, Jewish stars, or anything religiously affiliated. R.I.P./You Are Missed/You Were Loved... or if that is too long just a RIP. Or...whatever you think! Heck, even a stone that is either grey, black, or whitish (like the old sandstone ones) with a skull on it would work.

I appreciate, and I'm sure lilylily does, too, the work you are putting into this. So far what you've done is FAR FAR better than anything I've seen anywhere for an old/creepy section. Even the Tumbler Path Blog doesn't have much like that. And I don't go for wood and the brick designs are too "modern" and "new" looking.

Don't know if this would work, but it has longer wisps of old grass for a possible idea...but then again, it may be more than any ACNL could or should do -

Now this one has a dead leaf pattern that could look really good, if it's feasible - http://www.argenweb.net/white/cems/Old_Slave_Cemetery_Files/old_slave_cemetery_bald_knob.htm

Now this one is interesting in that instead of stones or grass, an old drought revealed old cracked dirt! https://www.google.com/search?q=old...d-cemetery-in-bosnia-reservoir%3Flite;900;580

This has some rock and grass - https://www.google.com/search?q=old...oto_6086539_old-muslim-cemetery.html;1200;801

And finally, a cool and maybe (?) simple gravestone pattern??? https://www.google.com/search?q=old...http%3A%2F%2Fwww.oldburialhill.org%2F;180;280

Hope this isn't overwhelming! They are just for inspiration.

Gah...I hope the links work! I copied and pasted from Google Images and I don't know if they are clickable or will work with a copy-paste-swipe. I hope so.

Oh, I just found an old cobblestone with grass in the cracks - https://www.google.com/search?q=old...g;http%3A%2F%2Fwww.openhandweb.org%2F;278;246

And for those of us who want an Egyptian or Old European brick someday, check this out! https://www.google.com/search?q=old...-wet-cobble-stone-at-the-sunrise.html;168;112

Okay...so sorry! I truly don't mean to overwhelm you. I just want to give you some ideas. I think I may have gone overboard...please don't have me banned! *pleads with puppy eyes*

Hehe no sorries, reference material is awesome! It always helps. Thanks! :3

thank you so much for your time and efforts, amykins <3 i really love your mossy rocks - do you think there's a way to add a few cracks and maybe one or two with a border, like ankhes said? i hate tiles that just end abruptly, which is the downfall of most, unfortunately.

and omg ankhes, you're great <3 it's like you're stuck in my head and posting all the things i don't know how to word :D
i have flat gravestones with r.i.p. on them in my town, i'll see if i can find the qr code for you again, if you'd like.

Lol! YOU are awesome for even starting this thread! I'll bet more people are looking for this sort of thing than we know. ;)

And I'm glad I'm "in your head," because I didn't want to derail or detract from what you were asking for. I was afraid that my ideas would not be to your liking. I'm so relieved that we seem to be thinking alike!

And I would LOVE to have your QR for the RIP if you can find it. :)

Amykins...you are AMAZING with your patience and my sources. I'm glad they may be of help! If nothing else, you'll get practice at designing and be a TOTAL HERO to lilylily and myself! :D

Oh! I forgot to ask, did you guys want a single-tile width or a double-tile? My brick pattern is double-tile width because I'm terrible at running in a perfect straight line. :p

Double for me, not sure what everyone else wants, but some parts of my path are single tile upwards, if that makes sense?

I'd like double. Single gets a bit...tight, for me. But I can use single and be fine with it. I'd just prefer double because I'm a bit tired of singles.

KiraNinja, I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean that you use single tiles because the more ornate ones take a lot of slots, I get you. Or do you mean each tile has a specific design and you repeat it? Like a flower on each one and you use it over a large area? Sorry...I'm just curious!

no, your ideas are great, please don't worry about it :3 my main problem is that english isn't my first language so i have difficulties explaining what i imagine. but our visions seem fairly alike and if i have a different wish/idea, i'll just chime in. :3
i haven't found the ones i'm looking for unfortunately, but i found these: http://acnlpaths.tumblr.com/post/57596682153/meth0dically-i-made-some-spooky-patterns-for
there's a cross on them, though, and i believe you said no religious motifs :s i actually like them because they're fairly simple, but if it's not your taste, i'll dig through my history further.

I'm also looking for exactly this ^^

welcome to the club! :D *hands cookie*

i prefer single-width because i want to plaster flowers and trees all over my town to make it more... rat run-ish? if that's a word, lol. but i'd still take the double-tiles because i need something to put on my town plaza and the stone in front of my train station. i guess i'll need some "in the middle" tile thingie without borders then as well... a left border, one tile for in between, and a right border. and possibly a top and bottom border thingies too.

(goddamn, do you see what i mean? i can haz fail at da explanashiuns.)

Sorry I'm bad at explaining, like this: http://imgur.com/ZPAc5KG

Ah! I understand. :) I have a couple like that, too. Thanks for clarifying! Sometimes you like to add a special pic to place at special places on your paths. Got it! That's cute, by the way!

You're okay! (((HUG))) I understand. We basically want to have double AND single. Some places need double for a "real" path and some places need single for a narrow one. I think you mean that your town has some maze-like qualities to it? Rat-runnish makes me think of a maze. Is that what you meant? If so, that's cool! And you would need a single tile for that sort of thing because a double would be too wide. Gotcha! :)

Also, if there is a single "borderless" piece, we can make areas even wider than double. For example, I like to make a couple of paths about 4 or 5 wide, like from the Town Hall to my Mayor's house, or from the Town Hall to the Event Plaza. I also like to fill in my Plaza so I'd need something without borders for the entire "inside" portion of it.

I do like your simple gravestone! The cross is simple and I may use it...but I do prefer to leave religion out of my town altogether if I can. But please, don't go to any trouble for me if you can't find the simple RIP. :) I'm copying the cross one anyway because I just may use it in my cycling town. I just don't want religious symbols in my Main Town. :)

I couldn't tell that English isn't your first language! You speak it VERY well and write it better than some native English speakers I know. So kudos and congrats to you! *hands YOU a well-deserved cookie!* You are doing just great. :)

So, Amykins, have we scared you off yet? I hope not! :D

I also see that in another thread you said you can remove or change borders...

Do you see where I may be heading? Lol! You may be sorry you offered to make patterns for us! Lol! :)

Seriously, tho, I don't have a whole lot in bells, but I can grind a bit and pay you for your work. I'd be happy to. So please, tell me if you want or need anything, okay?

LOL actually I'm loving the convo between you two. This is pure entertainment. XD

Oh, and I don't accept bells for my work. All I ask is that you pay it forward. :3
