Can no longer visit my main island with my second island

For some reason I am now getting an error message when I try to visit my first island with my second. It has worked since the update . I wanted to give me second island some carrots but now I get this error
I guess because I downloaded the dlc on both it no longer works. But why would it work right after the update and not now.

You've downloaded the update on both, right? Sounds like it, just confirming. They both have to be on the same version. And are you connecting via local play? That's how I do it and I've only had it not work if one switch was on a different version number.

Buddy I hate to tell you this, but if you want to play locally with yourself you must have a 2nd copy of the game, that has a 2nd account with a 2nd online membership.

Yea they are both on the same version, I had no problem going to my second island yesterday so not sure what the problem is today .

This sounds right. Do you own one or two copies of the DLC? If you own one copy of the DLC but tried downloading it to both separately, I suspect that might be the problem.

I have a second copy of the game and two profiles . I don’t need an online membership to play local . Have not had a problem with going between island until today.

I own one copy of the DLC two physical copies of the game.

Well you probably need to buy the 2nd copy of the DLC for the other person who doesn't own it. I still tested out mine and it still works.

I bought one copy of Happy Home Paradise and downloaded it to both my islands and I got this same message. I can no longer have one resident rep visit the other over local play. Bummer. If I had known that would happen, I would've bought two copies of HHP. :-(

That’s weird because the last couple of days it didn’t matter and it connected just fine.

Have you tried putting one of the consoles into airplane mode with WiFi on and doing local play that way?

Oh well mine is different. I own two digital copies and both of them have the DLCs.

Yea I tried that and it didn’t let my connect on local

Can't you still buy a second copy of HHP? If you can't for some reason, I'd bet Nintendo Customer Service could help change the authorization somehow. You'd still have to buy the 2nd copy of HHP but it would at least let you connect again.

This seems to be happening on physical. Digital it still works for me. I own both copies of the game, both of them have the DLCs, and I can still play with myself locally.

This is why I don’t get it. Because I downloaded the update and dlc the other day and have traded crops back and forth with no problems.

If you go on the account who doesn't own the switch and go on to the game it should say something like "Checking if software can be played" and it should say a screen saying "No access to DLC but can still play" and there is an option to delete it and the person who still owns the DLC on the other account can redownload it.

I will try that I just don’t want to lose the progress I made on either islands DLC .
