Can you have paths if you're still letting villagers move in and out?

Won't they mess up your path? I don't really have dreamies, so I mostly let villagers move in and out as they like (apart from one or two who I love - I'm never letting Biskit go!). However I really want to lay some paths and design my town a bit, you know, strategically plant some trees and bushes etc. What do you think?

if your paths are patterns, you won't have much of a problem. you can just kick down and place new paths for the villagers

you could always plot reset to make sure they don't place their house on trees or areas that you want to do something with

It's better to get them all to move in THEN make your paths - it is very hard to manage if villagers move in and out with a path.

Villager plots appear randomly so they can show up on your paths. If you're worried about it maybe try the reset trick? That way you can lay out your paths and if a villager plot appears in an unwanted spot you can reset until you have them where they won't ruin your pathway.

It's very easy for villagers to mess up your paths when they move in. However, it's not impossible to work around it. I actually laid down all my paths very early, before I had a full town. When new villagers moved in, I would just rework the paths around their houses. It wasn't too much trouble. But now that my town is full I don't really want to have to do it anymore so I just stop anyone who says they want to move.

But that's the thing, I don't know who I want. Do you think I should just choose dreamies before I start designing my town?

If I don't end up choosing dreamies, I reckon I'll do that. I've never actually done the villager reset trick before. I'll have to do it either way anyway :p

I don't have any set dreamies. There are a few villagers I won't let go of, but the others I don't mind continuously rotating them and letting them move because that's more fun for me.

Personally, I don't think you have to wait until you have all the villagers you want to make paths. It makes it easier and saves you some time, but if you're not going to try to get 10 villagers that you probably won't try to move out ever then it makes no sense to wait. You can start any time you want. Personally, I don't mind making paths, even for temporary villagers. Since I keep them around for a decent amount of time, like a few months, I don't mind having to re-make them if they move out and someone else moves in.

I don't really have dreamies, I tend to let em' come and go with a few exceptions. I laid my path sfter the first 2 weeks and never looked back. :) I've had several mess up my paths but that was only when I wasn't expecting them. I just plot reset when I'm expecting someone and it's worked out pretty good for me. It's just personal preference really.:p
