Can your Nintendo friends see if you are TTing?

You know how when someone opens animal crossing and they are on your friends-list it appears in the top left corner, does this happen every time you TT? I fear that it will annoy the people on my friends-list. Does anyone have any experience with this, or is there a appear offline option?

I currently am trying to move out villagers (and failing) and I will dread if people keep seeing me pop in and out of that notification.

My friend rhino keeps popping up on the best friend list, he says his system goes into sleep mode and that's why it happens it doesn't annoy me but at first I did think was time travelling

you can actually turn off others' ability to see you get online! I think that this might get rid of the notification too? haven't checked it out for myself, but it's worth a try!
