🧸 The glowing Teddy bear 🧸

Teddy bears are cute, aren't they? Well, not this one. While it might look innocent and cute by day, once the sun goes down and christmas lights turn on all around town you will see him: The glowing teddy bear with his empty, big black eyes. Little kids are running away once his lights turn on, as they know it will burn his image into their eyes forever. You never know when he is going to switch from innocent and cute to glowing and dangerous. Kids, be careful!

We have a giant teddy bear that is glowing in the night next to our house, where the townhall is. My little one says he's so cute when he is not glowing, but is extremelly scared of him once he has it's lights on. Perfect inspiration for this tale :D

The Wreath with Teeth

The winter holiday season is filled with lights and laughter, love and joy. For the good people of the world, their kind souls will be rewarded with gifts and good fortunes.

But winter is also a time of darkness and danger, and the not-so-good people, with souls full of evil, must beware of the peril they face.

For it is only to these unfortunate scoundrels that The Wreath with Teeth will appear. Ornamented with jewels, glittering with gold, The Wreath is indeed most tempting. But as the rascal approaches, closer and closer, and finally reaches out a hand - The Wreath shows its Teeth and devours its victim, who will never do evil again.

Tree Light Sprites
~~~
Aren't blown bulbs the worst? One goes out, and now the entire line of lights is useless! Well, what if I told you there's a culprit that causes your holiday light blues?
Believed to be fae of some kind, Tree Light Sprites are more likely to be akin to some sort of insect. It is also commonly believed that these creatures only appear in the winter- but this isn't the case. Tree Light Sprites are a creature that is active all months of the year, but in the cool and dark months of winter, seek shelter inside of homes, especially those that are lavishly decorated for the holidays. Feeding off of the light that holiday decorations give off, these crafty creatures pop open the covering of not just tree lights, but any holiday light, seeking shelter inside of the bulb. While this method is relatively inconsequential in the short term, the long term absorption of light will dim and eventually snuff out the light. Often times, a light will appear radiant still, as that is the Tree Light Sprite's defense mechanism, to radiate the light they absorbed in order to not have their current nest replaced and tossed into the trash.
Tree Light Sprites get their names due to being most commonly found clustering in and around Christmas Trees, as a tree provides many places to hide, and a chance at companionship in the winter months. Sprites get lonely too! It is theorized that these creatures, before the widespread usage of electrical lights, would hibernate underground in the winter in colony burrows. It is unknown why they take such a fancy to festive lighting, but many believe they simply can't help but give into the holiday cheer. While a bit of a nuisance at times, some appreciate these sprites, leaving out gingerbread houses for them to play in and enjoy when everyone in the home is asleep. It is said that getting on the good side of a community of sprites will bring you good luck in the new year, and prevent them from ruining all of your lights... but that can't exactly be confirmed.
Every year, tons of poor snowmen get burned and melted by mischievous pranksters. One very special snowman, named Justy, (short for justice) seeks to avenge the melted and the kind people that took the time to build them. Whenever Justy spots a prankster melting a snowman, he goes in and turns the prankster into a snowman themselves! So give snowmen the respect they deserve or Justy The Snowman will make you chill.
The Stone Owl
The story goes that every year, on December 1st, all stone owl statues placed as decorations in pine trees come to life every night until January 1st. Their big eyes light up so they can search through the villages and forests for lost presents that might have fallen off Santa’s sleigh.
When they find a present, they pick it up and deliver it to the rightful owner, ensuring everyone receives all their gifts. Then, on New Year’s Eve, the owls perform a celebratory flight among the fireworks before settling down to sleep as stone statues until the next year.
The Present Phantom
Every year, a family puts toys or other stuff in boxes before wrapping the boxes. However, they forgot to put one toy in its box before wrapping the present. The empty present came to life and started haunting others. It can suck in anything to store it, and it spits out what it stores as a way to attack others. It can even eat snow and use it to spit snowballs at people.
Here is my take on the Present Phantom. Once I read this, an image popped into my head immediately and I got to work. I actually kind of had fun trying to make this a bit spooky as well.
🏘️ Gingie Babie Yagie 🍪
Take extra care when crafting your seasonal gingerbread house, otherwise it may become inhabited by a foul, bad-tempered Gingie Babie Yagie!! Similar to a traditional Baba Yaga, scrawny chicken legs will sprout underneath the ginger bread, and before you know it your specially prepared Christmas Day turkey will be fried and eaten!!!! You'll be next, before it scurries away deep into the forest again... unless it takes a liking to your own festive tree?
Really enjoyed the dark twist of this one (as the true German I am, having grown up with very unsettling [original] Grimm fairytale endings lol).
Tale of the Snowlark
With the changes of season the cold comes. Up in the north there is rumored to be a bird with feathers that are shimmering like ice crystals. Every christmas Eve the bird flys across the sky, leaving a trail of sparkling snowflakes in its wake. The sight of the bird is said to bring good luck and happiness for the coming year but if you try to catch the Snowlark or follow it, you will be lost in a snowstorm and never to find the way home. Every year people leave offerings of warm food and bright laterns outside their homes to reviece the blessing of the Snowlark.
