Cell phones in AC Switch??

Not sure if anyone else came up with this idea already, but I was thinking about how cute it would be if we could have functional cell phones in AC switch!!
To start off, I wouldn?t want this to be super in-depth. I think if they implemented a cell phone with too many functions and abilities, it would take away from regular gameplay. In my head I see it as a cute little accessory that has a couple abilities that would help you to locate/communicate with your villagers or friends!

A couple ideas I have for the usefulness of cell phones are the following!:
1. I see it as partly taking the place of mail in AC. I personally always hated getting spammed with letters from villagers, mom/dad, etc. Instead of them sending a letter each and every time, receiving texts instead would be so much more convenient! Your mailbox wouldn?t fill up so fast, and only important things will be mailed to you (most of the time! A few letters here and there would still be nice ofc !)
2. If a villager wants to tell you something, ask for a favor/pwp, or discuss moving, instead of you having to wait for their ping, they could send you a message instead that you can reply to. Alternatively, they could text you saying they need to ask you something in person, that way you can go right to them! This way you?ll never miss a pwp/moving request.
3. Similar to the best friends feature in ACNL, you could send messages to the friends you have saved in your phone, even if they?re in their own town.
4. SELFIES WITH VILLAGERS AND FRIENDS!!!! this would be CUTE AF you can?t deny itttt

Let me know your thoughts!! if you have any other ideas that would make this feature even better, I?d love to hear them^^

Back in 2014, me and a friend had attempted to come up with a list of 1,000 ideas for improving Animal Crossing: New Leaf (and further games), and having a phone was one of them! We had originally come up with the idea of the phone being utilized for voice chatting (reminiscent of Wii Speak for ACCF) with your friends even if they are outside of your town/in their own town, along with them being in your own town as well. Similar to the best friends feature but for voice chat. I personally think having a phone and being able to customize it would be splendid, and as you said would make for a cute little accessory. I like your idea of it partially taking the place of mail, as I do get a bit bothered with the bombardment and the clutter of mail. Receiving texts sounds like a nice idea to add some flavor to the game whilst making it a bit more convenient so that you could have contact with your villagers at all times. Also, I absolutely adore the selfie idea! I think it would be hella cute and would add a nice variety to taking and saving pictures in the game.

I would hate for mail and the post office to become obsolete but... I'm totally for the idea of a cellphone type accessory. I was thinking that the computer could have an e-mail function instead of just being a furniture item you can turn off/on too. Anyways, I like the idea of using a phone to contact people on your friend list as well as maybe pinging villagers to come to your house or something. It could have an alert/alarm system too to remind you when you have to meet a villager at their house, etc. Maybe even the encyclopedia could be all clumped into a cellphone device. Eg. when you want to view your encyclopedia, your character pulls out their cellphone. The photo idea is cute too. I hate voice chat, but I could see that being part of it.

A phone would be exciting but I wouldn't mind if they didn't put something too complicated in either. Part of me thinks a phone takes away from the original AC vibe I'm use to, but idk. I'm open to change though.

A computer could be a great way to condense a few things... maybe the little ‘keeping in touch’ letters could be email, with packages being in the physical mailbox? And maybe you could eventually access your shopping catalogue on it too xD Direct order, but you still have to go to the actual shops to build it in the first place...

I'd like it to be an old 200x era phone than a smart phone. You can text and maybe call villagers but it would never replace the post office or other similar features

Nah, I still think that snail mail will be a thing (even in real life, people still love getting handwritten letters opposed to text messages, which are still nice, but they never replace good ol talking or letters)

I'm not opposed to this idea though, it can be in the game if it is implemented correctly

Ehhhhhh I don't think I would want to see cell phones in AC. It already kinda bothers me when my player pulls out a smartphone in Pocket Camp lol

Though ngl it would prob have some useful functions, but still I'm not crazy on the idea of having a cell phone in game, except maybe to call other villagers and invite them over or to figure out where they are in the town.
