Also, would it be as successful as the last two entries and have as much content as New Leaf?
I mean, just because the Switch 2 could be backwards compatible doesn't mean we aren't gonna get a new game, the 3DS was backwards compatible with the original DS and it still got it's own mainline AC game. The only reason there wasn't a mainline game on Wii U was because the system was a massive flop and it was easier to make a lower budget spinoff than a brand new game.I don't really see chances for a full Animal Crossing game on the Nintendo Switch 2, given the fact that New Horizons already exists on the Nintendo Switch, even if it sold well.
I have a feeling that they may release a spin-off instead of a full game, like how they released Amiibo Festival on the Wii U instead of launching an actual Animal Crossing game, but I can also see them not making a spin-off at all, considering the failure of Amiibo Festival and the Wii U in general.
By this logic, there was no reason for Animal Crossing e+, since Animal Forest+ already existed on the Gamecube. Or New Leaf since the DS had Wild World and the 3DS could play it...I don't really see chances for a full Animal Crossing game on the Nintendo Switch 2, given the fact that New Horizons already exists on the Nintendo Switch, even if it sold well.
