Character Challenge not finished before exiting game does it come back?

Hi everyone, I have scoured the internet to find an answer to this question with no luck. I am very new to the animal crossing game so I am learning as I go. I did the wisp challenge the other day and I did not finish it before I exited the game and the next day it was gone. I also started a challenge with Gulliver on the beach and did not finish that one as well. I am disappointed in this because If I need to end the game I should be able to finish a challenge. Or at least there was no information given that this would happen, I would have tried harder to complete them! So my question is, do I get another chance to finish these challenges? or should I restart the game at this point? My second question is when you are playing is there a way to fast forward through all the commentary? When I catch things its a pain to have to stop and listen every time especially if a balloon is floating by in the background!

Yes, Gulliver and Wisp will appear on your island again at some point, so don't worry! They're actually meant to appear multiple times as they have many different rewards they can give you.

You can speed up the text by holding L or R or by pressing B, but you can't actually skip it (to my knowledge at least).

To answer all your questions:
1. Yes you get another chance. In fact, you get MANY chances. Wisp and Gulliver will appear on your island randomly from now until the end of time.
2. No way to fast forward through the commentary. It's part of the charm of the game as cumbersome as it may get. However, if you hold B then the text appear faster.

Thank you so much, you have been very helpful its so nice to have an answer it was driving me crazy hehe, I was concerned I missed out on the challenges, so will they repeat the same challenge then if I see them again? like finding the wisp spirits?
