what if dolby and dan are the mafia
hear me out:
dolby uses his item on dan, and it does essentially NOTHING for the town??? even considering the whole "I use items more effectively!" bit
my guess is him using the item on a townie would've given too much away (why wouldn't he use it on tessa? for instance. or me if he wanted more info)
they've been working both to create closeness (dolby) and be separated a bit (dan). Dolby is largely believed in this game for the most part, so him attempting to loop dan in gives dan credibility as a townie. Dan pushing back at him a bit prevents them from looking like a team that's working together or being too agreeable

Yeah, like I said, I just was looking for night protection. Wasn't necessarily in it for the item.
