Because if the town voted me for item as well, and votes them in thread, after they make it clear they are the evil one, I have the freedom to act if they choose to betray me.

My vote tomorrow is for sale. I will probably side with evils, simply because in this game state it is more convienient too. Still, if mafia tries to backstab me there is a mechanism that I can use to ensure that they pay for it

Like let’s say that frosty votes you tomorrow Kiko, because I’m saying “hey I’ll side with you, get your win”. I don’t need to follow if she doesn’t vote me in blue.

This also is making a big assumption that Betsy dies tonight but from my pov that just happens 90% of the time

but tbh yeah, I don't see us as having 2 mafs (with one being a godfather) and a tp (who's best play involves working with the mafs) in a 7 player game

Here's the issue with what you're saying
7 player game
4 town, 2 maf aligned, 1 neutral (who's inclined to work with maf)
day 1 - likely miselim
night 1 - likely townie gets killed
day 2
2 town, 2 maf, 1 neutral
the first day that townies would potentially have information and they're already outnjmbered

I think the balancing of this game was nonstandard, however, there does seem to be a lot of night protection. In fact, I suspect I was the target of a kill on n1
