Cherrypie's Art Gallery :)

I have that same Mark Crilley book too, lol. :)

I've been using his Youtube videos, not his Mastering Manga book. But for Christmas I want to get the following books from Mark Crilley: Mastering Manga, the four books of Miki Falls and the books of Brody's Ghost. I can't wait, because I saw some previews and it looks splendid! I really want to make a Manga book, and hopefully in the next couple of years I will improve! I'm only 12. :)

Don't worry, you will improve, I started drawing manga when I was 12 too and you're way better than I was starting out ^^
I've been doing it for almost two years now ^^

We got something in common. I thought you were 14 because you are brilliant at wrting your stories. I'm still improving on Manga too! Look at this drawing I've recently drawn by watching Mark's videos.

You like Mark too? :) Anyway, that's really good! So that is the tutorial on how to do a girl with head phones? I haven't tried that out yet. This is a drawing I drew without any tutorials in the middle of the night, because I couldn't sleep. XD :

Hey, I think you're latest pictures are beginning to look great.
You've got the anatomy of humans started in your drawing.
What I suggest is that to be able to truly do CG art, you have to learn how to sketch first.
Personally, I think just sketching on paper is fine, and you can still produce quality drawings. I mean, That's what traditional art is, isnt it? Besides, I think what you need is practice through learning the basic structures, perhaps search up some tutorials? and then, I assume you are a mouse artist at this point, learn to draw with the pen tool (normally used in vector drawings), might increase the quality in your work that you're looking for.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me :>
I'm just another kid who has been drawing for a while and isnt the greatest at art.

Hi guys, thanks SO much for all the comments! I really do appreciate it! ;u; Anyway, here is my goal for the next couple of years, inspired by Mark Crilley's series called Miki Falls:

* I have this idea for a story and if you know me, the first thing you would find out is I LOVE writing stories. I might post my latest (but sadly unfinished) chapter book called the The Cursed Forest if you like. :) Anyway, back to the topic: my idea for a story is:

- A girl called _(Main Character's name)__, 14 years of age, was given a small, yet unusual clock, a gift from her Uncle who was a clock maker and always mysteriously went to 'work trips' quite frequently. Anyway, she was given a clock from her Uncle the day he died. His last words to her was: 'Get rid of it. Make sure no one is to ever touch it. I trust you to do this for the sake of your life and everyone else's.' Of course, out of the curious mind that ____ has, she fiddled with the clock, thinking why was it so important to her Uncle to get rid of this 'dangerous' item.
- That was when she realised that this clock could let her time travel and well, lets say she got famous. Or, more like: THE MOST FAMOUS PERSON ON EARTH. She evens gets her own Superhero outfit with her trusty sidekick: DASHER the DOG! (Her cute puppy who got transformed, thanks to technology, to a super fast and super smart side kick to help her along).
- She was on the cover of every magazine and was given assignments to find out what happened in the past that everyone was unsure about and what would happen in the future. A long while in the book it is about her having HEAPS of adventures. time traveling the world. The cool thing is that I will be drawing the main character, friends, family etc in Manga. However, when she travels the world, she meets many other types of cartoons, where they were originated from. Such as Western cartoons and Charicture (what's the spelling? It's where people draw other people with dramatic features). Plus there would be different colouring in and shading explaining what time of day it is and whether or not is the bright and sunny country side like in some parts of the past or the dark, sad junk filled city in some parts of the future. So I will have A LOT of fun experimenting with shading etc.
- Anyway, soon enough she is told that for hundreds of years with trillions of dollars spent, scientists has created a time machine themselves, yet the evil villain of the story: The Time Stealer stole the official Time Machine ever made and is now going through and messing up important events of history and making the world upside down with traumatising results. The hero of the story must go through time with her own time traveling clock to find the Time Stealer over the trillions of years of history (and future) to stop him from destroying the world.
- So, this is where ___ meets another manga styled cartoon guy called ____ from a different time zone (let's say the year 3089) who tries to help her with her mission and they end up falling in love. <3
- Now, when things already is complicated enough, ____ finds out from a doctor the effects of time traveling so much has effected her. She can only stay in one time zone for a certain amount of time before she dies. Her time allowed to stay in one time zone will shorten every time she visits it until if she goes there one more time, she would die. Her life really is ticking away. And that is why her Uncle was always on 'business trips' other wise he would die. And in the end, he did. And that was why he said the time traveling clock was dangerous. And she figured this out a little too late. She now can only limit her days in seeing her friends and family and her true love from the future until she has to say goodbye.
-Obviously stressed with the world in ruins because of The Time Stealer wrecking history and her last days to say goodbye to her world, she has to figure out a solution to save her and everyone in the present, past and future's lives.

I can't say the ending, other wise I'll spoil it, but I am quite happy with the way it ends. :)

Anyway, I need to in the next couple of months research the story, the different cartoons I will use, texture, shading and most importantly, my ability to draw Manga and other styles.

Then I will draw the rough drawings of each page as I continue to work on my drawing skills.

Then I will start doing the final copy and with a mixture of technology and water colour paints and pencils, I will try to achieve the effect I am looking for.

Hopefully by this time, it would look actually quite professional. Anyway, I will print it out as a real book * (as in not published, but printed out in one of those places you can print out your own photo books etc) with a front cover and everything and not to get a head of myself, but to see what I can do with it. ;)

I like to do projects like this and hopefully I can create a Graphic Novel as fantastic as Mark Crilley's in the next couple of years. Most of this includes the real life shading of Manga.

- What do you think? What should the names of the characters should be such as the main character, family and her true love from another time zone.

Mark crilley is a wonderful mangaka, as well as realist, but the only problem i find is that his manga style is an older one. What i mean by that is the newer releases of manga have a significantly different style, old is still okay though, but more people prefer the newer look as it is more detailed and styled. I've adapted my style into a newer one, but thats just me :)

the story is going good, there are some things you can work on, such as im not sure if it is because you only gave a summary but there seems to be a gap in some part of the story or kind of jumping too fast onto something else.

I like that story. Time travel is always a fun topic.

I love them too! How I got this idea was actually in my classroom. We had to think of a superhero character and I worked out this cool story to go with her. Any ideas for names for the main character? Here is her personality: stubborn, curious, confident, independent, mentally strong and never gives up. Her hair would be a light brown with dark highlights, brown/hazel eyes, 14 years old and now I just got to think about her hairstyle and her signature clothes for her super hero life and her normal life.

Yeah, I know. :) That's why in the next couple of months I need to work on all the details and fill in the gaps. I'll tell you guys my progress on the way! And I want my style to be like his. That way it would be different. I specially like how he did Miki Falls. Once I get that book I am going to study on that and how he drew it and how he shaded the characters. His Mastering Manga book will help me with that as well! I just think that his way of drawing gives this really special feeling about it. And that's why his drawings made him my mentor. Just something about his art makes me awe struck. Probs just me though.

Not true. Years back I used photoshop exclusively with a laptop touchpad. The pen tool is very user friendly when it comes to mice, it just takes a bit more patience.

Your comment on the 'My Drawings' thread was actually really good advice. That's what I am going to do improve my Manga: redraw and redraw the drawings of Mark Crilley's pages of Miki Falls. I watched a video from Mark Crilley and he said, get the source material of manga and copy, copy, copy. That way, you actually get to learn how they did it themselves.

Anyway, what is really frustrating me is your avatar pic. You remind me SO much of some famous person I know... Except I can't put a finger on who it is. It really is driving me mad! :)

Edit: As soon as I posted that, I figured it out! You look a lot like Amanda Bynes from Sydney White and Easy A (when she had red hair for the part and was younger, that is)!

Edit: here is a sketch I drew just then, inspiration from this page of Miki Falls: http://markcrilley.deviantart.com/art/MIKI-FALLS-SAMPLE-part-1-69666758

And here is my girls sketch coloured (partly) with pastels. I quite like how the pastels did a cool effect with the hair. :)

All your work is looking really good! I also love the story, remindes me of my younger self, i used to always create story's and get really detailed, making profile/booklets for the characters, drawing them, etc. :)
I really need to get back into my drawing...:( I've had so much work lately with exams and all. But once it's all over i hope i can share some work. :)

That would be really great! :) And thanks btw. Anyway, at school yesterday I did this drawing I was really happy with. But I had to give it in for the 6 word story contest (My six words were: Never say goodbye, always say hello. It means don't give up on people that matter). Hopefully I'll get it back so I can show you guys! o3o I also did a panel on the sample Miki Falls passage, but I am thinking I'll be doing that repeatedly until I will nail it and so I won't post it until then.

Edit: Here's a sketch of Reika from Miki Falls (I edited the background on Photoshop):

What do you think? Comment please! :)

That looks very good! Great job!

Excellent. :)

Thanks guys! :) I'll draw the guy next time and then I'll go back to Miki. It will go like this: Miki - Reika - H --- (what's his name) - Miki - Reika etc. I'll post the ones I am proud of on the way and try to do good shading and different poses and expressions. :)

Instead of doing the guy by himself (I really need to get to know his real name), I did him and Miki in the scene of being caught by Riki. Here it is:

Here is a bit of the comic. Can some one look at this and give me ideas on what to draw?

Here is another sketch. It's just a random girl, mind you. :)

Here is another one. But this time Miki is being tough and epic. Take a look:

It's from the last panel on the link I gave you.
