Are there any household chores you like doing, simply for the sake of doing them?

I’m asking this because I actually enjoy some chores, like handwashing dishes (it’s oddly therapeutic!), folding laundry, dusting, and vacuuming. Maybe it’s satisfying to see and feel a clean house? I also like washing my sheets— not the actual washing or fitting them on the bed, of course, but the fresh clean feeling afterwards…!

Nothing makes me more irritated than being asked to do chores TBH, but... I really enjoy washing dishes like you! The only thing I don't like about it is that I get intimidated when there's a lot I have to wash- but other than that, I find it very enjoyable. I'd also rather hang clothes after they've been washed than fold them because it's quick and easy.

I like doing laundry. I do it often actually. I’m a minimalist and don’t have as many clothes as the average person, but I’m happy with what I do have.

It’s not really a chore for me since I enjoy having clean clothes. Not exactly relevant, but I have a few pairs of the same pants and shirts. To me, that’s all I need.

I really love washing dishes as well as taking the trash out, recycling, vacuuming, and even doing laundry. I'd say the chore I enjoy the least is cleaning the bathroom, lol.

I love washing dishes…the hot soapy water feels good…and plus I hate seeing dirty dishes lol. It’s a pet peeve. I don’t always, but a lot of times I listen to music, a podcast, or a YouTube video when I do it. Maybe that makes it go faster.

Good lord, I hate dishes. Maybe being a dishwasher at an old restaurant job plagued it for me? Thankfully, I never have to do dishes outside of work, and at my current job, that’s only happened, like, five times in the six months I’ve been there.

It’s definitely not as bad at my current job.

I mean, I could see that. I like washing dishes, but there is also a limit for me.

I know someone who got one of those portable dishwashers and look oddly fun to use.

I wouldn’t say there are any chores I actively LIKE. But there's definitely a hierarchy! From best to worst:

  • Gathering sticks in the yard so someone else can mow
  • Taking out the trash
  • Laundry (loading, unloading, and folding)
  • Unloading the dishwasher
  • Sweeping floors
  • Cleaning bathroom sinks, mirrors, other surfaces
  • Scrubbing the toilets
  • Mopping floors
  • Dusting
  • Raking leaves / shoveling show (fun and novel for the first half, exhausting and achy for the second)
  • Vacuuming
  • Scrubbing the bathtub (back pain)
  • Washing the dishes
  • Mowing the lawn (My allergies are SO BAD)
For whatever reason, my partner HATES unloading the dishwasher, so I am just permanently responsible for that task and he always washes the dishes. Win-win!

I really like outside chores. I would rather be outside doing chores than inside. I find it relaxing to rake the leaves or clean up my flower beds. I really don’t mind mowing the lawn. I like to water the flowers.

I’ll admit, sometimes I find unloading the dishwasher tedious, especially if a bunch of dishes are crammed in there. But my personal pet peeve is seeing dirty dishes in the sink, so I like to get them moved over as soon as I can.
