From my knowledge withdrawing bids is a grey area; the whole concept of an auction is ruined if people aren't willing to pay what they've stated to bid for (otherwise we'd get people on 300m for Marshal etc.) especially if the auction is at a point where someone is in the lead (129 million in this case) only to withdraw - hence throwing the auction into jepoardy for the other bidders.

Not trying to force someone into a sale they're not comfortable with but the unspoken rule of auctions on BTF is only bid what you are willing to pay hence there's no need for withdraws from the current winner

That's different; the highest bidder never stated that they weren't willing to pay what they bidded, just they weren't available that particular time. (And congrats on Octavian btw)

Even in essence, it's morally wrong to offer something you won't pay, especially with such large numbers.

Regardless of the fictionality of the character you're in a genuine forum bidding in fictional money in a fictional game for a fictional character - when put in context it kinda cancels that reductionist argument you're stating.

He's the only octopus I have, and really the only one I want. I do like Marina, but I have like 2 normals already.
