Can anyone tell me the significance of collectibles? I understand that you need specific collectibles to join groups, like Team Popsicle. But other than a little decoration, do they serve a purpose? Maybe I'm ignorant and just couldn't find anything about them, but it doesn't seem there's much info about it. Thanks for answering! (If you do)

Basically they are used for decoration, and as a memento of how dedicated to the site you are. Some collectibles are exclusive and non giftable, so if you own one, it can prove you have achieved something great previously on the site. Take the Fire Feastival for example. People who participated in all 3 events got the Blue Flame Collectible. Unless they hold the same event next year, less than 100 people will own that collectible on the site.
