So far, I have found no gyroids on my island—only on Kapp’n’s tours. However, since it rained on my island today, I‘m assuming I will find at least one gyroid on my island tomorrow.

I’m wondering how many there can be after a rain, and wether rain is 100% necessary to find them on our own island. Has anyone found gyroids on their island after a day that it did not rain on their island? What’s the most gyroids you’ve found on your island in one day? In past games you could get two or three in your town after a rain.

And what’s the most you’ve found on a island tour with Kapp’n? So far I’ve only found one fragment on each of the mystery islands he‘s taken me to, not counting the extra one I got from Brewster.

So on kappn island I usually find 1 fragment :)
And after rain I actually managed to dig up at least 2 gyroids at the same day!
Without rain I never found one on my island so I’m sure it’s a condition for them to appear since you also need to water the fragments!:)

I had rain on my island the day of the update when I TT to the next day, I didn't find gyroids on my island. Still haven't found any.
I'm not sure if it is related to fossils at all cause I have all mine hidden behind a cliff so I would have to stop looking for them.

If it helps it rained on my island yesterday and today I've found 2 gyroids. All the small kind. (I'm not sure if there are various sizes like in previous games).

I have all my fossils buried behind my island and still dug up two gyroids the day after it rained. Gyroid dig spots are completely separate from fossil dig spots.

See now I need to take a closer look haha. I only found one gyroid after it finally rained for the first time since the update on my island (not just 4 days, I've admittedly time traveled a little bit, so my otherwise constantly raining island was dry as a bone for at least two weeks which I found extremely frustrating lol). I guess maybe the number is 2. I suppose that they made them so hard to acquire because of how few there are compared to the amount of different models that were in previous titles, but it's frustrating for sure! Makes it very tedious to farm gyroid fragments without trying to acquire them through trades. Since I'm trying to open a gyroid shop on TBT I've resorted largely to doing that lol. Maybe I jinxed myself and that's why it never rains. Who knows!

Since I have my museum mostly completed I went and buried 6 fossils behind the museum building so that any new little stars on the ground that I see are 100% gyroids. I only found one after it rained on mine but I feel like I just didn't search enough or something, because most people seem to be saying that they found two!

I also found 2 the day after it rained. Looks like that may be the maximum? And I've only found one fragment per Kapp'n island.

So there seems to be a pattern here so far where people are finding 2 gyroids on their island the day after it rains, but no gyroids on their island without rain, ever. That’s good to know.

I read elsewhere that someone went to a Kapp’n island that was raining, and they found two gyroids and a gyroid fragment there. I can’t verify if that’s real though.

There is actually an island that has both a gyroid fragment AND a gyroid.

There is an island from Kapp’n where it is raining and I found a whole gyroid AND a gyroid fragment.

I’ve gone to this same island twice now :3

I found two gyroids today, as there was a lot of rain yesterday (it was raining when I woke up and it never stopped).

I have had a different experience from most in this thread. The first day with the update I got two fragments, one from Brewster and one buried on the island. It rained on my island later that night, but I didn't get any gyroids the next day. I looked pretty hard, so I don't think I missed it, but it's possible. Since then I've continued to find one fragment on every Kapp'n island.

I haven't found any gyroids on my island. Of course, that being said, it hasn't rained on my island at all since update v2.0 came out, and according to MeteoNook I won't get any more rain in November, so I guess I won't be getting any gyroids from my island any time soon, lol. As for Kapp'n islands, aside from Brewster giving me another gyroid fragment on my first island, I've only gotten one fragment from each island every time.

I think the max you can find is 3? I did years of TTing and got 3 when I dug up all the holes at the end of it.

I have not found any gyroids/frags on my native island since the day after launch. I'm also of the same state of thought that there is generally a frag to be found on each of Kapp'n's tours. Also similar to many of you, friends who have had rain have stated finding around 2 gyroids on their island the next day.

I usually only find one fragment on Kappn islands each day. It rain on my island yesterday and I found 3 gyroids today
