- Do you have/had any comfort characters?
Entrapta from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
- Why did you pick them?
she's the only autistic character I've ever related to, she's the best rep I've seen so far. she's not stereotyped like most of the ASD rep.

- How do they effect you?

I was researching this topic a while ago and I find it so interesting.

As a brief overview, a comfort character is a fictional being from media that makes you "feel better", to whatever degree you experience.

So I want to ask:

- Do you have/had any comfort characters?
- Why did you pick them?
- How do they effect you?
i do have some comfort character! but i usually rotate between them depending on my current hyperfixation lol but a permanent comfort character of mine is sailor moon! it was the first anime that i watched when i was like 11 and i keep her very close to my heart! i dodnt actually choose her, she just grew on me! she brings me comfort bc whenever im bored or sad i just watch an episode of sailor moon since most of them are pretty episodic (idk if thats how u say it in english lol but i mean when u can understand them without context) i also think that the story is genuinely super interesting and am a huge fan of the franchise!
so yeah, sailor moon! i also really enjoy gintoki chrom and power but i dont want to spam lol

Do you have/had any comfort characters?
- I have a two that I identify with, Ninetales and Rosalina.
Why did you pick them?
- When I was in 5th grade, my friend had a Ninetales card and I really wanted to trade for it, but it was his favorite. Later, he traded it to me but told me I could never trade it. I never did and still had it through college until I accidently left my entire Pokémon card collection in an apartment that I moved out of. It still makes me angry to this day, that I can't think about it without getting upset. As for Rosalina, when she first came out, I was instantly like, "THAT is my princess." She just is so me, I just love her so much.
How do they effect you?
They give me a real serene feeling, it's hard to explain, but I feel so truly myself with I display these characters or see these characters. I really wish I could get another gen1 Ninetales card. Probably could, but yeah.

Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. And also many characters from the Vampire Diaries/The Originals universe
- Why did you pick them?
Luna Lovegood because I can relate to her as being a bit eccentric and an outsider. I also love her outlook on life, friends, etc.The characters from Vampire Diaries/The Originals, honestly, both those series in general bring me a lot of comfort because the characters have a lot of depth and personality, plus interesting backstories. My top 2 would be Damon Salvatore and Caroline Forbes/

They bring me happiness and watching the shows/movies they're in help relieve my anxiety and this may sound sad but it makes me feel like I have friends, I don't have many friends in real life, just a few. So sometimes watching these shows and movies can help me escape my loneliness.

im not sure if i totally understand this concept, but i like tohru honda from fruits basket. she makes me feel comfortable and happy and inspires me to be a more positive, friendly, and helpful person. i dont quite understand the why did you pick them question. shes really sweet and cute and i just like her haha

Do you have/had any comfort characters?

Yes! Currently in my profile pic, but its Yagi (All Might) from My Hero

Why did you pick them?

Because I saw a lot of myself in him, in some ways. The way he carries himself, his personality, his goofiness sometimes, also just barley having friends, little to none, makes little mistakes. Also someone who I inspire to be, in ways. Always helping others, trying your best, just being able to inspire people. Also he is a cutie to me.

How do they effect you?

I feel happy, comforted. I always find myself drawing a lot of him and Aizawa (another comfort character, but not as much as Yagi) just because they bring me so much joy. I didn't really have comfort characters, until I stumbled upon him. Flipped a switch in me a guess, maybe because he just touched my heart in the best way. He's definitely helped me through trying times, just with his smile. I guess his All Might signature smile really does work 😅

- Do you have/had any comfort characters?
Yes quite a few, mainly from shows that were on TV back in the late 90's early 00's such as Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Halliwell sisters from Charmed. When I'm feeling nostalgic I tend to put on those shows as a reminder that even though they're now from a different era there's a reason why they're still memorable.

- Why did you pick them?
I honestly I couldn't say why specifically other than that I just gravitate towards the strength and courage they show even during the darkest moments of their storylines. Not only that they've shown moments of weakness to which reminds me that everyone has flaws, even the heroes.

- How do they effect you?
I think this goes hand in hand with my previous answer. They've taught me that even when things get tough you have to keep going and that nothing remains the same forever. Life is a journey and that we should embrace it both mentally and physically as best as we can.

- Do you have/had any comfort characters?

I have too many to count to be honest, but the main one that comes to mind is Asta from Black Clover.

- Why did you pick them?

Seeing the way he can’t use magic, but still trains hard anyway and doesn’t give up is just really inspiring. The way he’s always positive and always smiling and laughing. I know it’s odd that I’m choosing someone from BC and not MHA, but he’s just really awesome and underappreciated imo.

- How do they effect you?

He inspires me to become the best version of myself I can become and to never give up, even though I’m not blessed with many skills or talents. He shows me that even if you aren’t very skilled or talented, you can still outdo other people with hard work and dedication. Sounds cheesy I know, but it’s true. He just reminds me of myself in some ways.

Alrighty, so here goes:

- Do you have/had any comfort characters?
The Male Villager from the Mario Kart series. (He's in my avatar and signature right now!)

- Why did you pick them?
Okay, so I can give a very long answer on this, but I'll try to make it short:
Ever since early 2014 I would have loved to have seen Smash Villager in Mario Kart. (Along with a Sweet course, which I got) It was late August of 2014, and we got to see DLC. I was stoked to see that Animal Crossing was on the list, and where I read Villager I was both happy and sad. Happy that we got a Villager character, and sad that it wasn't the Smash one. Ironically, not many days later I actually grew on him very drastically, so much so that I was hyped on wanting to play as him that I didn't see a purpose in playing Mario Kart until he was released.
Jumping into April of 2015 I finally got to play as him and it was the best thing I ever felt during that year and now, to the point that I have a main in Mario Kart 8 and it's him.

- How do they effect you?
He fills me with so much joy! I even have a World of Nintendo action figure of him that I basically cherish every day. Even playing as him on MK8 and looking at fanart of the best crossover boy just melts me with happiness all around. I just wish he crossovered in the next Smash title and makes a reappearance in Mario Kart 9, as I cannot get enough of him.
(I'd go through many emotional episodes if he doesn't make it in Mario Kart 9... But I'm certain he will if the next title will have everything from the past titles)

Do you have/had any comfort characters?
  • Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro
  • Dean Winchester from Supernatural
Why did you pick them?
  • Totoro
    • When I was younger I got attached to him and I have so many stuffed animals of him
  • Dean Winchester
    • First off he's hot, but I also sympathize with him, he's afraid to open up to people that he is close with cause he is afraid of burdening them with his problems or hurting them.
How do they affect you?
  • Totoro makes me extremely happy when I'm feeling down
  • Dean makes me think, when I was watching Supernatural I would always think about how I would help him if he were real, I feel bad for him and wish I could help him, so when I'm feeling down I feel like he would understand and be able to help me more, so he makes me cry out my tears when I'm sad and I feel like he's there for me of sorts

Do you have/had any comfort characters?
Yes yes yes. Characters are a major coping mechanism for me, always have been.
Any of my OCs count as comfort characters with me even having a Specific folder/tag for ones who are particularly special.
Zhongli from Genshin Impact is also a HUGE one. Just thinking about him makes me :]]]] I love him sm
Lopunny, Rooney and Rolf and Rocco from Animal Crossing, Leon and Hop from SWSH. More than I can mention really.

Why did you pick them?
Comfort characters come naturally to me so I can't say I picked them. My OCs just kinda happen to be the ones I vibe with the most and the ones I use the most, though some (namely Vincent, Cathy, and Mya) are there because of them being like 7 years old the lot of them.
Zhongli I also couldn't tell you why. Hes just... nice. Something about him is so extremely comforting and fills me with such uncontrollable joy. I just want to hug him tight while he tells me stories about all of his old friends.
Leon and Hop give me a very similar joy to Zhongli but I'm a different way. I feel really bad for them both but I'm so so proud of them, which sounds dumb with them being fictional, but if I went into detail we would be here all week.

How do they effect you?
Like I said, the ones who aren't my own characters fill me with raw happiness that makes me wanna jump up and down. I just want to hug them which is like the highest honor of happiness you could get from me.
For my own characters, it depends. Most of my comfort characters, except for a handful, represent me in some way. I mean almost all of my characters do, but these represent good aspects, or things that I want to be. A hard worker, someone who works to make others happy, people who are reliable. They stay close to my heart in that way.

Also, NORMALIZE COMFORT CHARACTERS! They are just that, characters who bring you comfort!!! I hate the idea that people have abt comfort characters, where it's some kinda negative thing. Like I'm sorry we are coping through fictional characters! Same with kinning, and I hate how they're both automatically related. Also kinning comes in 2 forms and both can be taken too far (tho kinning is also valid we out here coping)

Do you have/had any comfort characters?

Catra obviously, but to a lesser extent, Susie from Deltarune, Fluttershy from MLP, and certain Animal Crossing villagers.

Why did you pick them?

I think they're all adorable and endearing. Also, I started watching She-Ra during a big time in my life and a lot of those feelings went to Catra.

How do they effect you?

They make me feel more like myself. Comfortable in my skin. Happy with my personality. Those things <3

Entrapta from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

I was so excited when I saw this! Entrapta is adorable! I'm autistic and I didn't even notice she was meant to have ASD but that makes sense.

Mae from night in the woods. Honestly she's not so much of a comfort character anymore but she was the reason I realized a lot about myself. Basically her character has a lot of different mental health problems she sorts through throughout the game and I related to them a lot so I decided to do some research on them. Ended up finding a bunch of very helpful coping mechanisms because of it and it encouraged me to open up about my problems instead of refusing to get help. Once again, shes more of an old comfort character but she was one of my strongest comfort characters and it's great what that game encouraged me to do

Aah glad someone mentioned entrapta, her and peridot from steven unuverse are really cool to me. Positive representation lol. Thinking about them makes me very happy. Also susies an entire mood. But for some reason she's not a comfort character of mine even though I kinda relate to her

- Do you have/had any comfort characters?
Absolutely! There are several, but I'm going to say Princess Daisy from Super Mario and Oozora Akari from Aikatsu.

- Why did you pick them?
For Daisy, I love her cheery, sassy, and positive personality.
For Akari, she is sweet and probably a hard worker.

- How do they effect you?
Daisy: I get happy when I see her somewhere. I always choose her in Mario games as well as SSBU.
Akari: I get happy as well. Although, she works extremely hard to become the best and top idol, in spite that she fails the training in the beginning. That got me thinking, never give up on something. Keep practicing or working hard to get a good result. I do that with some of my hobbies, including drawing.

I've had multiple comfort characters throughout the years. I am not saying I only have one at a time, but there is always only that one that stands out from the others, so I will only be discussing 'that one' for this:

Okay, my answer is probably a very unusual one, but here we go:

Do you have/had any comfort characters?
Red Fiend (Miitopia)

Why did you pick them?
I didn't "pick" him (I see him as a male), per se. I don't see this type of things as something that you choose. I think fate just decides it. But the best answer I can give is that I consider my #1 crush to be my #1 comfort character...:oops::oops:😍😍🥰🥰

How do they affect you?
He is big, awesome, tough, and badass. He may not be there to physically protect me, but I feel protected by him spiritually. Thinking about him makes me feel happy and comforted. <33333

Do you have/had any comfort characters?
My comfort character is the Pokemon Buizel (my avatar), which I'm sure comes as a surprise to absolutely nobody.

Why did you pick them?
Like many here have said, I didn't really pick Buizel as a comfort character, it sort of just happened.

How do they affect you?
It's kind of hard to explain, but Buizel is just awesome in every way and just seeing them is often enough to boost my mood. Some time ago someone on YouTube edited the Pokemon Manaphy movie to include only the moments where Buizel is on screen, and no matter how down I'm feeling it's impossible for me not to feel better after watching it and seeing Buizel just, well, being Buizel. Many of my other favorite characters in the past have had some degree of positive effect on me, but this is the only one I would actually consider a comfort character.

- Do you have/had any comfort characters?
Yes! I'd classify a few characters as my comfort characters. One of them is Lan Wangji. Another is Rei Sakuma. Third, possibly Makoto Tachibana.

- Why did you pick them?
Since I'm neurodivergent I tend to lach onto specific characters for a long period of time and they mean a lot to me. ^^

- How do they effect you?
Well, comfort characters are comforting. It brings me a sense of joy to see the ones I associate with my happy feelings.

Do you have/had any comfort characters?
- Hermione from HP
- Naruto

Why did you pick them?
- I admire how smart Hermione is
- Naruto's willingness to keep going even if he is tired (I am only 2 seasons in so far)

How do they affect you?
- I see some aspects of both characters in myself. I am known for being studious and the friend that has her stuff together, but I am also the friend who will uplift and support others, even if I am having a rough day. Also, I see myself as an overachiever who always wants to be proving my worth to both myself and others.
