Comic book reader? Come on over this way!

Any recommendations for any new Marvel Comic series I should try? (Don't suggest DC, I really, really don't like DC Comics...)

the series has been over for awhile but if you liked the new young avengers, the runaways was good until joss whedon took over. and the first run of young avengers was pretty good though i haven't reread it recently so i'm not sure how it stands against the second run. deadpool's a pretty good comic too if you don't mind liefeld art.

I like bone. It has a really good story and art.
Ray friesen is also good:

I used to read it! :)
It was entertaining at first but got a bit repetitive and boring to me after a while.
I didn't know it was still ongoing.
The art work is amazing for sure, and I love how insane all the characters are. It's super funny.

I forgot to mention I Kill Giants and Anya's Ghost. They are more graphic novel. Stories are excellent. ^_^
Scott Pilgrim too... :3

I'll add more when I remember..

SCOTT PILGRIM YES OMG!
How did I forget to mention it?
I have all the books, it's so much fun! My fave thing during teenagehood.

i've been a dc fan (mostly gotham, arrows & flash - & the kiddie teams) my entire life up until the reboot a handful of years ago. i haven't been keeping up with comics much since then but cassandra cain will always and forever be my favourite.

I'll definitely try Runaways then! I still need to read the first YA run, I made the mistake of reading the second run first :p Deadpool is also another one I need to read (I borrowed some of his comics from one of my friends a while back)

I prefer graphic novels to comic books simply because they're cheaper (usually), but I do collect some comics. I think I have five different series in my subscription folder at the local comic book store, not counting my husband's subscriptions.
I'll also back the recommendation of The Runaways. It's of my favorites series, and X-Men Legacy also looks to be a good one, especially since...
they've brought Nightcrawler back to life.

Didn't realize Runaways was so popular.

I think I only read the first volume, but Nico and Molly were pretty cool, iirc.

the free comics SUCKED wow super cheap of them :,(

Its ok tho

Well, they're not gonna give away the good comics for free. That's why I'll just be grabbing my copies of Guardians of the Galaxy and Rocket Raccoon, and getting the heck out of there.

Last year's free comics were really good though, I got the Infinity prologue, the Walking Dead FCBD special and Star Wars the Assassination of Darth Vader... I still need to read the Infinity series. Glad I didn't bother going into my local CB shop today, my friend who is there sent me some pictures of the police having to be called in due to the rowdy comic book fans...

I love love love comics! I too, am a huge fan of the X-Men and lost interest in AvX at about the same time as OP, Titi.
I have been a huge fan of the character X-23 (she is literally my favorite comic book character ever) and have been super disappointed with the new book she's in and the person that's been writing her. (It's simply awful, OOC) so I sort of gave up on comics for now.

I am also a huge Sandman fan <3

Well, then...o_O
At least, we know they're not afraid to disappoint us, though I'm not really sure how that's a good thing.

You don't happen to mean the X-23 series from 2011, do you? Because that was written by Marjorie Liu, who wrote X-23: Innocence Lost where she made her comic book debut.
I love X-23 also. She's been one of my favorite characters ever since she was introduced to the Marvelverse on X-Men: Evolution. Not gonna lie. If it wasn't for that show, I would not like comic books nearly as much as I do now.

Btw, I apologize if I'm not as up-to-date as some of you guys. I rarely get the chance to buy actual comics just because they're so expensive. Hence my preference for graphic novels.

No, the X-23 series were amazing and very well written. I'm talking about the All New X-Men book she's in. Bendis is horrible at writing her, completely out of character.

I loved the X-Men Evo cartoon! Definitely still one of my favorite cartoons c:

Oh, that series. My husband bought the first volume of it, but I haven't read it yet. I'm still collecting the Avengers Academy ATM and I don't want to jump ahead.

Anyway, just got back from Free Comic Book Day. We ended up getting there late cause we went with one of my husband's friends, so when we got there were only TWO ISSUES left of Guardians of the Galaxy and no Rocket Raccoon. We went to another comic book store to try and find it, but all that was left were Archie's.
We did get an Xavier Institute Student Parking Pass, though, so score! It was between that or Star Fleet :p
