Comments & Thoughts on Terraforming

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but based on what I’ve seen it seems like the edges of layers probably can’t be stacked right on top of each other. Every image I’ve seen shows at least one space between them.

Figured... but I can definitely work with that.

Before I say anything negative, I want to be clear that I'm extremely excited about this feature. It's going to open up so many opportunities, and I can't wait to start playing with it!

Now for the rest:
The balance of control and limitations of design might prove real (potentially frustrating) challenges. What I mean, is that on one hand we have this freedom to change things, but on the other there are likely several things that can't be altered at all?placement of resident services, airport, beach rocks, river deltas etc.

This isn't inherently bad, and hey, I appreciate challenges as well as the idea of preserving some of the original land. However, for me at least it makes choosing a map at the beginning even more daunting. With NL you know whether a map will work for you or not when you first see it. Here, what might seem great at first could get in the way much later on?I'm talking months down the road.

I think I'll really have to sit down and come up with a basic layout for my rivers / town areas before picking a map, since the changes we can make with the terraforming might be on a smaller scale than expected (as in, making smaller tweaks instead of major changes to the environment)

I'm sort of hoping that I can have all my important town buildings (ie, resident services, museum) in one area. If it can be on a cliff, that'd be great! But if it can't, I guess I'll make do.
