Ok so I keep seeing a lot of complaints and what not about certain aspects that people dont like which also happen to be misconceptions c: so I'm gonna.... fix that I guess.

"Villagers are BORING"/"no more requests >:c"
in the beginning, yea. You're in a "story mode" and are supposed to focus more on the crafting and getting used to the new mechanics they introduce each day.
Villager dialogue improves from you befriending your villager and progressing through the story.

Requests, villager games, and random gifts will also unlock as you befriend your villager and progress the story.

"ALL THE NPCS ARE GONE my childhood is RUINED"
NPCs will be added in with updates. As nintendo clearly stated during the direct. No, it's not just the holiday NPCs it's also ones like KK seeing as he cannot be scanned in at first either. Sanrio villagers are also going to be added in later with the same mechanic.

"Nooks cranny only has one more upgrade. We are doomed!"
this is also something nintendo is controlling from behind the shadows with updates. The game is supposed to be slow even for us TTers. In a way this prevents us from getting bored with the game because we TTed too much :p

"I can only choose my roof color? What about everything from hhd!"
this comes later once you upgrade your house some more and even becomes a free daily option c:

We are meant to take this game slowly and not rush through it; nintendo wants to make that clear even with everyone TTing! We will EVENTUALLY get more upgrades, NPCs, and what not with time! That's the point of all the updates and the entire game in general c:

Thank you!! I keep seeing people say there's no KK slider ... you're literally tasked by Tom Nook to improve your island enough so KK will come have a concert? Obviously he's in the game then, lol.

It would also make zero sense for Nook's Cranny to only have one upgrade -- I just can't believe they'd take all upgrades away completely so I'm not gonna worry about that at the moment.

Edit: As for boring villagers/no requests, I can also vouch that they become more interesting and you DO get requests as the game progresses. I like how they get sick of you when you aren't yet friends with them -- brings me WW vibes. I feel like people got so used to how sickeningly nice the villagers always were in NL (or just haven't played anything other than NL) and I think the fact that you were their mayor played into how they acted towards you there too.

The first upgrade for Nook's store didn't even exist until the day-1 patch. Nintendo is punishing us for both TTers and Dataminers.

Although we cannot see it, Nintendo has a roadmap they will be following over the next 12 months.

thank you for making this! hopefully it helps people feel a little better about the game. I've been noticing a lot of worrying about this also. It's a new game, you cannot expect everything to be unlocked right from the start. Things will come with time. Nintendo has always treated this series very well. They are not going to release a new game with less features/make it worse than the previous game. It's been out for 3 days for most of us. Let's sit back and relax and enjoy our island life one day at a time ^_^

Great thread *two thumbs up* <3 o/ Everything here is just facts, we really just need to wait rn as there are very real updates coming haha and they clearly have more in store. Be excited folks I have been having an absolute blast w/ my server and friends : D Tbh my only WIP is legit my own house/entrance to my island so much customizing left lol.

Yeah, my villagers are definitely starting to open up, talking about more things, and are pinging me more frequently. I even found a lost item last night!

Yea no I think it's funny everyone was complaining about villagers not being mean any more then once they get sick of you, A random stranger they've never met prior to like...2 days ago..., it's a horrible thing :p

I re gifted something to bangle like... 2min after she gave it to me just to see what would happen and she did the little muttering under her breath that phyllis does. I cant imagine how a cranky villager would reply lol

Yep, Nintendo seems like they're absolutely changing the formula. People are 1) used to the fact that Japan gets the game first so we know everything (I keep seeing "OMG something isn't there" when people can get it if they wait another day or two) and 2) used to the fact that everything was available from day 1.

Everything is NOT available from day 1 in this game. They're planning to release more of the game over time. They didn't want leakers to reveal everything (with the bad leaks from Pokemon, etc, can you blame them?) and they seem to not want people to TT. I personally don't care if people TT or not, but if they release the game this way, then you are forced to experience everything at a slower pace. That's the pace that the designers intended, whether we like it or not, and this time they are enforcing it more via these updates.

Some people think the game is incomplete. Honestly, I think Nintendo has already finished developing many of the updates, knowing how software works. They just are waiting to roll it out until they are ready for us to experience it.

Yes, thanks so much for bringing this up! It's clear that this game is a first in the series for many people so of course they'd put you in a 'tutorial' mode for the first week or so!

I also love taking things slow and just enjoying what I have so it's nice~

Absolutely feel this and agree with what has been said so far. I understand there is still worries and concerns but there is no need to jump to conclusions. This isn’t a instant gratification and fast game(it would one of the slowest speed runs ever lol).

Haha! Aw, I love Bangle. I honestly like the villagers a lot more in this game. From what I've experienced anyway, they've got way more life and personality to them than in NL. In NL they gave you the same boring request every 5 seconds and had the same dialogue and ugh, it got stale so fast imo. I LIKE that in NH you have to earn their friendship and they have little quirks and get annoyed at certain things. It's way more realistic and entertaining. But, each to their own!

YES YES YES
I hate everyone saying "its incomplete!!!" No, nintendo has started to experiment with regular updates in other games and found an AMAZING way to incorporate them into animal crossing! Updates are not made a week or even a month prior to the game getting it; a lot are made before the game releases or way before it even is added to the game. The devs knew what they wanted in the game before it was released :p just bc you cant get it yet doesnt mean it doesnt exist or the game is incomplete

Thank you for making this thread! Hopefully it will soothe the fears and worries that some people are having. I was disappointed at first because of some missing things, but you are so right, we dont know what is coming in the next updates.

Thank you for making this! It's disheartening to see people stating as fact that because something isn't available now means it won't be available ever. I agree with a lot of others here; I get the feeling that Nintendo is trying to have us experience the game on their terms at least for the first year.

I like the slow progression, personally. To each their own, I guess, but I'm willing to give a game more than four days before declaring it 'the worst thing ever 0/10 everyone charge your 3DSses and go back to New Leaf'

Thanks for clearing things up!
People tend to focus on the missing stuff instead of enjoying what the game has to offer. Because what's there is solid.

The slow progression has given me a chance to rack up an insane amount of miles and bells. Been paying off my house loan everyday.

There's just 2 things that bother me during this time

1. No hourly music. I am stuck grinding to the same 2(?) tracks (1 day track, 1 night track)
2. There are some things on my island that bother me. I need terraforming to solve.

With the my extended weekend now over, I'm back to my Mon-Fri job, which should hopefully help pass the time and move me closer to solving the 2 above.

Also Nintendo knows that people datamine, everything on Pocket Camp gets spoiled as soon as it appears.

Yes thank you for this post! It honestly confused me a bit why some people are seemingly expecting everything to be available right away. I think day to day progress is what makes the Animal Crossing series so great!

Yess! Personally I'm actually pretty excited about the updates and slower pacing. This way things won't get spoiled and there's so much to look forward to and be excited about for a long time, even after we've gotten used to everything we've been presented with so far. Updates allow for feelings of novelty even later on in the game when the initial excitement has worn off. I'm optimistic that they have a lot of cool both old returning and completely new stuff in store for us~
