I have completed the bug and fossil exhibits...but the art, fish, and deep-sea creatures are challenging. I've gotten most of the fish and sea critters, aside from the ones that only show up at 2 a.m. on a blood moon or whatever. But I also know a lot of people who finished ALL of the main (bug, fish, fossil) exhibits already. The art is another story, thanks to Redd, but still....
Anyone else find this a fun (but frustrating) challenge?

I found most of it fun, but I actually had the most trouble with the bug portion of the museum. Finding the flea, giraffe stag, and scarab were pretty brutal for me. (And I could also see how fly would be very annoying to catch. )
For the beetles I spent hours on mystery islands after chopping down all the trees but palm trees, picking all the flowers and breaking all the rocks. I had to set up a few different islands like that because time advanced past the beetle's spawn times.

Also, it took me over 1500 hours to find my first flea, and I played NL so it's not like I didn't know what to look for, they just almost never seem to spawn for me. It was the last thing I needed to complete my entire museum.

Fun, yes. But definitely challenging. After standing at the end of the pier, at the right time of day, in the right month, using 100s of fish bait and STILL no blue marlin....😭. Yep, definitely a challenge, lol.

The museum has always been one of my favourite parts of AC ... It's taken me upwards of 3-4 years to complete some of them ...

I don't see how any one part can be more 'challenging' than another though ... They all just take patience and effort, things I'm willing to give to the games ...

I would consider the art exhibit to be more challenging, just because it is so random. Definitely helped considerably by having the art stand on Harv's island. But, even with that...it's very hit or miss. Takes a long time just waiting for the game to give you A) Something that isn't fake, and B) Something you don't already have. My art wing is still nowhere near being finished. - I don't really play too often anymore, so this doesn't help. Maybe I would be finished if I kept playing daily. But...the amount of time it takes is quite daunting, IMO. Still...not a terrible thing, tbh. The art wing is pretty much one of the last few things to do...so I guess it's a blessing that I still have some reason to return to the game every now and again.

Guys don’t take any of this the wrong way…I LOVE the museum; it’s one of my favorite parts of the game

Don’t get me wrong. I love the museum, too, or else I wouldn’t be so passionate about it.

I'm so glad everyone loves the museum so much!

My favourite areas of the museum are the fossil and the aquatic exhibits. I know that I'd find it very frustrating to try to achieve 100% completion, so I'm happy to leave some things missing. 😊

i have no desire to do that anymore lol i personally love seeing my villagers wonder around an empty art museum staring at the walls.

If they want things to stare at they should contribute to it lol

I think the same thing sometimes! As much as I love gathering things for the museum, I’m like…”there’s HOW many people on this island, and I’m the only one doing anything?” Lol. That’s part of the fun though

Completing the museum is definitely fun and sometimes challenging. I love how the museum changes as you add things. Most time consuming for me is art. The museum on my main island is complete. Still working on the museum on my second island. I finished bug and fossil. While looking to see what fish I still need I realized I missed a fish from last month.

I only have the art section left. It's one of the reasons why I wouldn't want to reset my island. In fact, I am closer to finishing the museum in this game than in prior iterations.

I love the museum, but I have to say that’s it’s not one of the areas I focus the most in. I completely finished the Fossil area, but my bug, fish, sea creatures are all about the same level of completion. I would say about 75-80% complete. When I get the urge to fish or dive, or I see a new bug, I go around and catch them. They aren’t priorities though and I just love to watch it grow slowly. I didn’t mention much of art, because I don’t even see Redd anymore. My art exhibit is non existent.

The biggest culprit would have to be the art museum because not only was it introduced later in the game, but Redd's visits are so rare. And even if you have him around, most artworks end up fake. I only managed to complete it thanks to trading. Otherwise, my art gallery will still be bare even after 2 years.

Other exhibits weren't that much of a problem. Well... except that I had to craft tons of bait for some of the fish.

I love doing the museum because I'm a completionist... but I agree it has its annoyances. It was super stressful dealing with the summer tree beetles (especially the super skittish ones) and trying to find pier fish, and of course it's annoying for the art section to go unfinished because Redd is a jerk.
I swear it took 3 years in New Leaf for him to come to my town with a real Venus de Milo statue. Now on my island, I'm down to the final three pieces (2 paintings and one sculpture). But that'll probably take just as long if not longer 😅

I found all of it fun except the art. I think they could have done better on the RNG. Whether it is more visits or having at least one art piece always real. It also didn't help statue spawns being so infrequent. I know they added Redds camper at Harveys but I heard that he doesn't change his stock unless you buy it all? If true, that's dumb.

Anywho, the night time creatures I just time traveled for when I was working because I worked nights. It wasn't going to be possible to get otherwise. That is the down side to a game that runs in real time. It's a cool concept, but not realistic for adults with jobs without time traveling. Not saying I want it to change, I love the gimmick because it's like your own separate mini world you are apart of, but I understand why someone else would want it to.

I think if villagers could contribute to the museum, that would take away the challenging factor of it. Maybe if there was an option to turn it on and off, it could work. If this were a thing, I’d wait for the YouTube video, “How long will it take my villagers to complete the museum?” I’d be curious, too.

I really enjoyed completing the art section thanks to lovely users on here who helped me out :) I also found collecting fossils to be a lot of fun to for my museum. But I am really not liking how hard it is for me to find the silly fish. I only have a few left but no matter what I do I can not find the last few I need :(

I have one item for the art collection left, then my museum will be complete. Redd gives me everything except that, including the fake version countless times. I'll get there, so I'm not stressed.

I enjoy wandering through the rest of it, especially when I meet a villager.
