Concerns...

Yes, the character models look nice! I didn't like the animation on Isabelle and Pete's models, but Nook's animation looks fantastic. That's why I believe the two trailers to be representative of different things, wholeheartedly.

^I believe it's more about the principle in this day and age. Not being able to represent yourself fully in a game about representing you and your perfect life is a big deal to some people. There isn't really an excuse not to include this feature now and it may be very offputting for some people even if it seems like a very small issue to others.

If you ask how animal crossing can be improved upon, you'd get countless answers. It is such an 'improvable' game, but it is also a 'ruinable' one well. It is up to the game designers to figure out the proper ones to add... And unfortunately, we ourselves are but armchair designers in that regard.

But I am hopeful that they will do a good job at finding the right features to add and improve. Animal crossing is designed to to be played for years on end, so the designers probably have done tons of testing to know how they could improve it. And with stronger hardware and modern software, there's all sorts of opportunities to set out features they could never have done in previous games.

If most (or all) of my ideas don?t make it to the next game, I see both good news and bad news.

The good news is that when I blog about my towns, I can also add a separate section for game ideas. I like to put more in my blogs.
The bad news is that what I wish happens in the next game won?t happen.

Now if time traveling is removed from the next game, I would not be happy at all.

One concern I have is the use of QR codes. Since the Switch doesn't have a traditional camera, will there be a way to use our previous designs? Hopefully they'll figure out some work-around, preferably one that doesn't require a smartphone and another app.

I don't think they will remove it. The option to change the time in the game was always a feature,
and I guess if you could only change the time by going to the consoles set up and change it there,
it would be too annoying after a while (not only if you want to do time traveling, but also if you want
to set up the right time in general). So I wouldn't worry about it.

Over all I'm not too concerned with how this new game's going to turn out!

Since I have been on a hiatus the past 4-5 months it was a lovely surprise to see that they are in fact releasing a new game in the future. I don't really have a wishlist for what I want to be included because they definitely will have to add some new intriguing features to keep us enthralled with the game.

Anyways I don't own a switch yet so I feel like I'll love the game even more once I finally buy a switch (it will probably be after the new AC is released because I'll want to see what the new game has to offer)

I hope they go all out with the switch version
Imo if you play city folk for a bit, new leaf feels a bit mehh

It'll look amazing though, take a look at Mario kart.. I play on a gaming monitor and it looks amazing

What? Am I reading this right? The most advanced and feature packed game feels meh after playing low effort remaster with tacked on IR controls?

That was my thought too. They just used the town hall for the announcement. I have to say that the character models for Isabelle and Nook are amazing. Makes me extremely excited for the Switch release!

The Isabelle announcement had nothing to do with Animal Crossing Switch in any way whatsoever. The set was an upscale town hall from New Leaf and Isabelle was the Smash Bros. model itself.

The Nook portion, while directly related to AC Switch, was just a render and was by no means a representation of what the final game will look like.

It's gonna be crap. I just know it's gonna be crap. The new excuses for Pok?mon games pretty much ruined any hopes I had for Nintendo. I'd rather use my money on third-party games now.

First of all, calm down.

Second, Nintendo has NOTHING to do with the development of Pokemon games. Game Freak is the majority shareholder when it comes to the Pokemon series, and any off the wall decisions made for the series is solely on the shoulders of Masuda (whom is stepping down as producer after Let's Go, mind you. A huge boon for fan enthusiasm) and Game Freak.

Blaming Nintendo for what Pokemon has become is like blaming Capcom for the 3D Sonic games being so mediocre. It doesn't make any sense and just serves as a demonstration of ones ignorance.

Not to be rude or anything, but to call the game already crap without even know the title or saw any
gameplay is just a little bit too... hastily. Besides that, I wouldn't start to get panic just because of
Pokemon. I mean, do what you want, but I'm just saying, it's better to wait for some more informations
before making a opinion about it. Who knows? Maybe it's going to be the best AC ever (or at least much
better then all the other AC games before).

Why would such a small thing ruin the game for you?

I know this is an old comment but it's really funny to see people think the lack of skintones in the game is a small deal.

Imagine being a 5 year old kid, you get a game where you think you're going to be able to be yourself in a virtual world and decorate your ideal little world..... but you can't look like yourself in real life at all. What sortof message do you think that would send to a little kid?

ACNL's western release not having skintone selection as a feature at launch was one of the most tone deaf decisions I've ever seen. In homogenous Japan, sure I can understand why the devs don't even think about it, but an american section of said company not having an aneurysm at the notion of pushing out a game wherein they are literally showing 'white is the default'.... that blows my mind.

The absence of skintones is not small, it is enormous.

I don’t see how bad Pokemon has gotten, but that’s only because I actually like what Pokemon has become. I thought the series got better while I am bothered by the pessimism over the newer games.

I think this next AC game is going to be great. The only dealbreaker is if they drop time traveling, and even that’s not going to happen.

Jeez, all I wanted was to make a point without getting called ignorant.

People have rights to their own opinions - but not their own facts.

The last time I remembered, Game Freak was not the maker of Animal Crossing games. From this fact, predicting the next AC will be bad by the trends of Pokemon games is straight out bad logic. Unless, of course, you have real evidence that the two franchises have ever influenced each other's game design methods.

No need for fear for the sake of fear. Not much about the games have been revealed, yet.

Too much hand holding. Scaled back difficulty. Removing much praised features. Long, boring unskippable cutscenes. The list goes on and on.

And then you have Let's Go, a game that exists for the sole purpose of attracting players from the mobile app.

When your producer openly states that he doesn't actually know what fans of the series want, then there is something very wrong. We are just lucky that Let's Go is his last game as producer and that Gen 8 is in the hands of someone that, hopefully, understands the needs to the audience more.

Jeez, all I wanted was to make a point without getting called ignorant.

You blamed Pok?mons decline in quality (which itself isn't wrong) on Nintendo, a separate company that does not even own the Pok?mon series in full let alone develops the games and then conjured premature outrage over a correlation that, had you done some research beforehand, should not have existed to begin with.

Ignorance.

Exactly my point.

My sister-in-law is an AC player and is also Indigenous.

She'd like to play in her own color rather than take a daily trip to an island, to look more like herself.

Give us what we have in HHD for how we look when we first start off playing they game ? la tom nooks cutscene (or give a customization scene where rover asks what you look like and isn’t based off random questions) and it will make every one happy
