Honestly, like I know the games not even out but looking at everything they have done and added which is literally almost everything I can think of that we would want, can they even top this with the next game? Like what else would they even add lol.

more farming/gathering, berry bushes or carrots, bring back red turnips

I kinda wish we could get the full Stardew Valley experience and grow crops, cook stuff, etc.

Technology and graphics just continue to advance as time goes on.
Imagine in the days of gamecube where that was innovative. Then came Wii and DS and graphics/play style only got smoother. Now we look at NH with the switch and of course they're huge improvements.

As for in game options to improve, we can't really comment at this time yet till we all get the game and interact with it. However, I'm sure there are things. Whether it's due to npcs (bringing back old characters, restoring old characters functions ahem Blanca), holidays (we have yet to see how the download aspect of them is and if it's less solid than just it being in the game naturally), restrictions if any and how they impact (whether with teraforming/villagers/etc), and so on.

I can already say one major improvement would be to let there either be separate save files (so more than one town may exist) or go back to letting cartridges have separate save files (like previous).

I kinda feel like adding farming would change the game too much. The reason farming is a problem is that you would feel a ton of stress to play every day so your crops don't die. It's not a problem in Stardew Valley because that game doesn't go by the real world clock. Animal Crossing does.

Cooking would probably be OK though.

for dectorating purpuses...

grid free ( with limitation to prevent glitches) or at least 45 degree furniture placement options
doors for interiors
movable doors and windows with the possibility to add or subtract them
porch and balconies options

And keep animals in a barn or coop with fences around them? :p That would be wrong...

But I do like the idea of being able to cook! I'd also love it if you could have your own little (pop up) shop and sell stuff that you made or found to other villagers.

I personally hope that they continue to add to the game over time, new features, villagers, items, etc. Would really hate for them to release this game and call it a day, outside of the Event Updates and the likely cross-over DLC items we'll probably get. There's so much they could do, wouldn't mind paying another $60 for an expansion or something.

It's a fine line, really. I like Animal Crossing because it does everything well. Daily tasks aren't tedious nor time consuming, yet, the fruits of that labor show themselves in the progression of just about everything.

If they added cooking, or farming, or running your own store, or whatever, then it'd appear to be trying to be something else, when in reality, Animal Crossing is Animal Crossing.

Such as? Give us some examples..

Well for starters, there are unlimited possibilities for things we don't know we need. Teraforming is evidence of this.

Bigger museum
More bugs
More fish
More fossils

Bigger homes (for villagers too)
Bigger maps...Massive maps
More villagers.
More shops
More items
More haircuts
More emotes

Better mechanics
Better graphics

Much much more.

Cooking
Farming
Multiple towns
Renaming towns
Better town management

For me I've always wanted a form of transportation in animal crossing like a bike at least. Whenever I finally complete my city with roadways and stuff I would like some traffic in it. But adding bikes and cars would cause trouble for the game itself since it probably wouldn't feel like animal crossing anymore lol.

How else am I going to capitalize on these animals? :( sigh...

Jokes aside, I would love to be able to cook simple meals that gave you energy or perks like being able to run a bit faster. I think it would be fun as long as it's done right and not made too complicated.

Of course. They still haven't implemented a feature for us to collect materials from the environment to build our own houses and avoid Tom Nook's mortgages. But hey, at least we get to literally reshape the island. :D

That track looks beautiful, but I wouldn't like that design for New Horizons. The disproportion between the size of buildings/trees and our avatar is part of the AC charm for me, as well as the disproportion between the size of a building and the amount of space within. Let's have the 60FPS though lol.

This has crossed my mind but what I learned in my perspective is Animal crossing so far is good at having each new installment to main series be a improvement from the previous games. So it would be interesting to see where they take it from here. Unpopular opinion as much as I enjoy Harvest Moon and Strawdrew valley games there is a line that makes them different from Animal crossing. I hope that line doesn't get blurred too much If that makes any sense. Even with that said I think I will enjoy that eating fruit does something now :)
