Could we make "The Airport" section free-of-charge visits only?

It kinda sucks when more than half the thread ask for a "donation" or straight up payment... it should be to invite guests in your island, not customers, the Nook's Cranny section is for business. I mean, people can do whatever they want but it would be nice having a section for some "friendly" visits only. Also sorry if this is not the correct subforum but I had no idea where to post this.

EDIT: Apparently we have a Dodo Business class section now! Thank you mods for discussing the issue between you all, I think creating the new subforum it's a great idea:) and I love the name too haha

I second this idea, or just having a specific subforum for this in general.

When the Airport and Nook’s Cranny sections were first introduced, I was actually a bit confused what the difference between them was supposed to be.
Both sections seem to be used for very similar purposes, and a more noticeable distinction might make things easier to navigate.

I second this.
This might be unpopular opinion, but I also think 'tips are welcome' is sometimes used as 'pay a fee or look bad/i'll get annoyed', so people asking for tips should also be put into the Nook's Cranny section. Some people really expect a tip every time.
Either be 100% free and let people give you tips without saying you want them, or go to Nook's Cranny.

This isn’t just a forum situation, it’s also happening on twitter, too. In the past week or so I’ve seen a lot of folks ask for tips or a small gift (although they do state that it isn’t necessary to visit). I believe there are a lot of members out there who would happily let you come to their island for free - I’ve done so in the past, but I left a gift as a polite way to say thank you.

Sometimes having guests over can be really stressful for the host - from disconnection issues to the not so trustworthy folks that might turn up and potentially ruin their island. It’s quite draining, so I think leaving a tip isn’t unreasonable. Instead of creating a whole new forum subsection, why not create a topic instead? Then you can post when your gates are open and contain it that way.

I agree - people who want to charge an entry fee are free to do so if they want, but I think the threads they make to advertise this should go in Nook's Cranny - it is a trade, after all.

I think that it would be nice to have two sub sections for Nook's Cranny - one for paid visits one for items, and then it would be easier to find what we all want.

I am a bit divided on the entrance free=tips point - if people visit me, and they might want to leave something, it makes sense to tell them what to pack in advance. Setting expectations in advance makes me less stressed when I go somewhere. Previously, have said that non native flower seeds are appreciated, or people watering some flowers. I wouldn't say that this is the same as a mandatory entrance fee, as I don't stand at the entrance and wait for items before letting people in. I also usually have a pile of duplicate items which people can take from or add to, but then that is all voluntary, too... (However, I do usually offer to do free crafting if people bring their supplies when they visit, which pushes me into Nook's Cranny territory).

Yeah I understand, for example when buying turnips I always tip and when I open my gates to let people come sell turnips I expect them to tip, it's a really time consuming process!
My idea is that people can post in the Nooks cranny when they ask for tips, in the airport forum when they don't.

In the past, I had kind of like a guild for Animal Crossing, though we called it a "neighborhood." We had a voice/chat server (Mumble, though the few of us left are on Discord now), and basically we'd keep our towns open most of the day, even if we were at work or school. However, we screened people first, including RL friends (because sometimes you'd find out that your sweet RL friend was the kind of person to take hybrid flowers because "This person will never meet me" -_- ).

I was hoping this new game and the "best friend" status would make it easier to navigate something like this, but the mercantile approach I've seen all over the internet has dashed that hope. Having a specific forum that's for free visits only would be nice for those of us who are looking for more than bells.

I vote for prefixes?
Like they have in nooks cranny and villager forums... just to help keep from the clickbaits of going into see there is an entrance fee.
