Imbri
Resident Night Mare
A bit of a deviation, but everyone needs a break from catching bugs and fish, right?
I started doing counted cross-stitch many, many moons ago, and recently decided that I wanted to do a chart of my kitty Blaze (pictured in my avatar), since he's getting up there in years (he'll be 18 in August), and it would make a great memorial/remembrance. Plus, he's just so stinkin' cute, don't you think?
I tried making my own charts with programs, but they were way too pixelated for my taste, so I ended up going with a professional chart from Heaven and Earth Designs, my favorite place to get charts. Even if you don't stitch, you should check them out, just for the artwork there. I just got the chart back and think it is going to be amazing!
Here's the picture I gave them to work with:
I took it last summer and just loved his expression. I asked them to blur or remove the background, though, because I'm really not interested in immortalizing my bathroom tile. They took it all out, so the chart is just of Blaze. I cropped the image a bit to take some of the background and enlarge his image a bit. I'm going to stitch it on an antique ivory fabric, which I think will make his orange coloring pop.
I can't wait to start this, but first I have to finish putting a grid on the fabric. That's done by basting a contrasting color - I'm just using regular sewing thread in black - in a 10 x 10 grid. That makes it easier to keep track of where you are on the chart, but it takes a long time to do! Once I get the gridding done and start stitching, I'll post progress updates here, if anyone would be interested in seeing them.
