Cute furniture can't be customised?

So on my island, the Cute furniture series is blue and can't be customised. But I have seen it in a white/pink colour on Twitter.

Is it the case that I'd have to find the alternate colours from someone else? ;w;

That is correct. There are red, pink, blue and yellow variations of that set. Not sure why the devs did it that way for NH. :/

I don't understand why some furniture can't be customized or that they did random colors for different people...every piece I get I check to see if I can change it and so far a LOT can't be changed.

This particularly annoying for me because my cute series bed and wardrobe are white/pink while the clock is a light greenish blue. So not only can we not change them, but the developers didn't even ensure all of the set we'd get would match? =/

It seems that anything that doesn't get crafted is colour-locked per island. You'll only get one colour of it from shops, from your Nook Terminal, etc. I've seen some people say that your villagers can gift you items in other colours, but I have yet to experience this - in all cases so far, the gifted item has been the colour-locked version.

If you want other colours, you need to trade. There are several people in Nook's Cranny who have completed or nearly completed the almost 60-piece cute collection who will let you catalog for a small fee if you are looking for that, then you will be able to order the other colours from your own Noom Terminal.

So far I found a yellow cute tea table and a dark blue cute vanity, I think both from shooting balloons. I was hoping they were furniture I can customize because I like the designs but don't like the colors at all but since I've found 2 different colors so far it doesn't seem like it's restricted to one color per island or that the only way to get the others is through trading.
